The 5 Most Exotic Restaurant Venues in the World
5: Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, Rangali Island, Maldives - Situated more than 16 feet below sea level in the Indian Ocean, this glass-enclosed spot cost about $5 million USD to construct. Patrons can scope 180-degree views of coral reefs and a wide variety of fish, as well as manta rays, sharks, and other aquatic inhabitants
4: The Dining Pod, Koh Kood, Thailand - Once you’re seated inside a giant open-air bamboo capsule with a table and cushioned seats, you’ll be raised up into the rainforest trees and have your food delivered by a zipline-riding waiter. (The ocean views are pretty impressive, too.)

Mozilla chose... poorly
Andrew Sullivan, himself a gay man, voiced strong disgust on his blog The Dish towards Mozilla Firefox forcing CEO Brandon Eich to resign for having donated $1000.00 to California's Prop 8 campaign in 2008 seeking to ban gay marriage, saying Eich had been "scalped by some gay activists".As ConservativeIntel notes, "Mozilla set a new company record today for online customer dissatisfaction":
If Mozilla was hoping to avoid controversy by edging out former CEO Brendan Eich, the company has most certainly failed. The graph below comes from the feedback page on their site. This chart goes back to when the comment system was adopted, and the highest number of “sad” comments is today, by a factor of about two. The second highest number came yesterday.
Look, I can understand folks supporting gay marriage. I, for one, believe that marriage as a contractual instrument codified in religion or law should be traditional, i.e., between a man and a woman. I mean, human procreation kinda depends upon it, last time I took biology.
Is my opinion controversial? It would seem so, at least in the age of Obama and Gomorrah.
Why would Mozilla inject itself into issues of faith, morality and marriage? I leave the answer to that question as an exercise for the reader.

STATE DEPARTMENT AUDITOR: Uhm, Any of You Guys See $6 Billion Lying Around Somewhere?
The State Department has no idea what happened to $6 billion used to pay its contractors.
In a special “management alert” made public Thursday, the State Department’s Inspector General Steve Linick warned “significant financial risk and a lack of internal control at the department has led to billions of unaccounted dollars over the last six years. The alert was just the latest example of the federal government’s continued struggle with oversight over its outside contractors.
The lack of oversight “exposes the department to significant financial risk,” the auditor said. “It creates conditions conducive to fraud, as corrupt individuals may attempt to conceal evidence of illicit behavior by omitting key documents from the contract file. It impairs the ability of the Department to take effective and timely action to protect its interests, and, in tum, those of taxpayers.”
In the memo, the IG detailed “repeated examples of poor contract file administration.” For instance, a recent investigation of the closeout process for contracts supporting the mission in Iraq, showed that auditors couldn't find 33 of the 115 contract files totaling about $2.1 billion. Of the remaining 82 files, auditors said 48 contained insufficient documents required by federal law.
...Before Linick took office last fall, the State Department had been without an inspector general position for five years—the longest IG vacancy in the government’s history, as noted in The Washington Post.
By contrast, the Air Force -- in order to save just $3.5 billion over five years -- slashed the invaluable A-10 Warthog (pictured above) program.
Priorities: for Democrats, waste, fraud and abuse always trump protecting America's warriors.

QOTD: "During a tour of the Middle East in November, Secretary of State John F. Kerry portrayed the region as on its way to a stunning series of breakthroughs, thanks to U.S. diplomacy. In Egypt, he said, “the roadmap” to democracy “is being carried out, to the best of our perception.” In Syria, a peace conference would soon replace the Assad regime with a transitional government, because “the Russians and the Iranians . . . will make certain that the Syrian regime will live up to its obligation.”
Last but hardly least, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was on its way to a final settlement — by April. “This is not mission impossible,” insisted the secretary of state. “This can happen.”
Some people heaped praise on Kerry for his bold ambitions, saying he was injecting vision and energy into the Obama administration’s inert foreign policy. Others, including me, said he was delusional.

Why are Boehner and Issa helping cover up Obama's scandals?
As for the gun-running operation that killed hundreds, Eric Holder and Barack Obama continue to unlawfully claim "executive privilege" over a massive trove of documents that likely implicate both in "Operation Fast and Furious". Throughout American history, "Executive Privilege" was reserved only for a small, explicitly named set of communications unrelated to a specific criminal investigation. Until Obama, that is.
As for Benghazi? Well, for starters, we still don't know what Barack Obama did for eight hours during a running terror attack that resulted in the deaths of four American diplomats. We still don't know who coordinated the campaign of lies to the victims' families and the American people about the nature of the attack.
So what does Johnny Boehner and his hand-picked Oversight Chairman, Darrell Issa, do? Next to nothing. They hold show hearings. They appear on television. But they refuse to name a Select Investigative Committee for any of these outrageous scandals.
Why?
Allen West has a pretty good idea and I have some additional thoughts (*cough* they got somethin' on him *cough*).

Another "Gun-Free Zone", Another Preventable Massacre
Gun Control: Another tragedy at Fort Hood is compounded by the absurdity of well-trained and disciplined soldiers told to "shelter in place" until the police arrive.
The second mass shooting at Fort Hood is not considered an act of terrorism. It is, however, a grim echo of its predecessor, which was an act of terrorism called "workplace violence." And to this day, the commander in chief calls Maj. Nidal Hasan's Nov. 5, 2009, rampage in which 13 were murdered and 32 wounded "workplace violence."
In that tragedy, Hasan, a self-proclaimed "Soldier of Allah," shouted "Allahu Akhbar" and opened fire on dozens of U.S. civilians and soldiers who were unarmed and unable to fire back. Then, as now and in the Sept. 16, 2013, mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard, military personnel trained to defend themselves were unable to do so and had to wait until the police arrived.
Granted, a military base such as Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas, is not like a fort in the Old West. It's a place where soldiers trained for war prepare and those returning from war rest with their families and children. It's more like a small town than an armed camp.
But in small towns all across America, private citizens freely exercise their Second Amendment rights and are allowed to carry concealed weapons to defend themselves and their families. Why not U.S. soldiers?
CHARLES SCHWAB: High-Frequency Trading a "Growing Cancer... Corrupting Our Capital Market System"
Schwab serves millions of investors and has been observing the development of high-frequency trading practices over the last few years with great concern. As we noted in an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal last summer, high-frequency trading has run amok and is corrupting our capital market system by creating an unleveled playing field for individual investors and driving the wrong incentives for our commodity and equities exchanges. The primary principle behind our markets has always been that no one should carry an unfair advantage. That simple but fundamental principle is being broken.
High-frequency traders are gaming the system, reaping billions in the process and undermining investor confidence in the fairness of the markets. It’s a growing cancer and needs to be addressed. If confidence erodes further, the fuel of our free-enterprise system, capital formation, is at risk. We can’t allow that to happen. For sure, we still believe investing in equities is a primary path to long-term wealth creation, and we believe in the long-term structural integrity of the markets to deliver that over time for individual investors, which is all the more reason to be vigilant in removing anything that creates unfair advantage or undermines investor confidence.
On March 18, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced his intention to “continue to shine a light on unseemly practices in the markets,” referring to the practices of high-frequency trading and the support they receive from other parties including the commodities and equities exchanges. He has been a consistent watchdog on this matter. We applaud his effort and encourage the SEC to raise the urgency on the issue and do all they can to stop this infection in our capital markets. Investors are being harmed, and they shouldn’t have to wait any longer.
As Michael Lewis shows in his new book Flash Boys, the high-frequency trading cancer is deep. It has become systematic and institutionalized, with the exchanges supporting it through practices such as preferential data feeds and developing multiple order types designed to benefit high-frequency traders. These traders have become the exchanges favored clients; today they generate the majority of transactions, which create market data revenue and other fees. Data last year from the Financial Information Forum showed this is no minor blip. High-frequency trading pumped out over 300,000 trade inquiries each second last year, up from just 50,000 only seven years earlier. Yet actual trade volume on the exchanges has remained relatively flat over that period. It’s an explosion of head-fake ephemeral orders – not to lock in real trades, but to skim pennies off the public markets by the billions. Trade orders from individual investors are now pawns in a bigger chess game.
THE WAR ON POVERTY: $21 Trillion Later, Government Has Only Made Things Worse
Guest post by Matthew Vadum
The War on Poverty has barely made a dent in actual poverty, states the 205-page report unveiled last month by the House Budget Committee, which is chaired by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.).
The paper, created in the hope of starting a discussion in Congress about reforming America’s bungled poor-relief programs, came out before Ryan released the GOP’s new budgetary blueprint yesterday that lays out how to balance the budget in 10 years. That document calls for reducing federal government spending by $5.1 trillion over a decade largely by getting a grip on out-of-control social programs. The House Budget Committee could vote on the fiscal plan as soon as Friday. Leadership in the Democrat-dominated Senate, which hasn’t even tried to adopt a budget in recent years, isn’t planning to craft a fiscal blueprint this year, either. The heart of the War on Poverty report is its observation that most federal poverty-alleviation programs are essentially useless or incapable of having their impact measured in the real world.
The study observes that in 1965, the poverty rate was 17.3 percent. In 2012, it was 15 percent. This means taxpayers blew a staggering $20.7 trillion over the last half century in order to achieve a paltry 2.3 percentage point decrease in poverty.
The War on Poverty has barely made a dent in actual poverty
Broken down into less mind-blowing, easier-to-grasp figures, between 1965 and 2012 the average family of four spent roughly $146,000 per percentage-point drop in poverty, or $335,000 per family for the whole 2.3 percentage-point reduction.
Only the most blinkered or jaded among us in the body politic believe that sucking $9 trillion out of the private, productive economy for each single percentage-point reduction in the poverty rate constitutes an acceptable return on investment.
Which brings us to the modern “progressive” Left.

The worst April Fool's Day prank in history
It was so fitting that Obama sauntered into the Rose Garden on April Fools day to proclaim the wonderful success of Obamacare. We are the fools for allowing this fool and his fellow fools in Congress to further bankrupt our country with this disastrous, government-run clusterf***. He is a dangerous empty suit. The only thing that mattered to him and his sociopathic control freaks in the last two months was hitting an enrollment number that he could tout as success. Making sure there are enough doctors in the plan or ensuring excellent healthcare services once you get sick is not part of their agenda. And they certainly don’t worry about the 7.1 million people paying their premiums. That’s the insurance companies’ problem.
There is so much propaganda, spin, disinformation and outright lies circulating in the captured mainstream media that the dumbed down, distracted, disinterested American populace believe the sound bites from Obama and the talking heads on MSNBC and the rest of the Obama loving media. Isn’t it funny how early in the disastrous roll-out of this joke Sebelius and her band of HHS drones didn’t know how many people had enrolled for weeks after the end of a month, but yesterday Obama knew that exactly 7.1 million people had enrolled within hours of the final deadline? You may have noticed the non-stop 30 second ads trying to convince iGadget addicted morons to sign up for Obamacare over the last three months, building to a crescendo in the last few weeks. Obama was desperate to get young people and his black constituency to sign up. Most of the commercials were black NBA superstars yapping about the wonders of Obamacare. These were surely targeted to white middle class people. Right? Guess how much the average 30 second commercial costs. How about $123,000. The government has admitted their advertising budget for the last three months was $52 million. My guess is they went over budget and probably spent $75 million of your tax dollars to convince millions to join a government program that will cost you trillions more of your tax dollars. The original July 2013 estimate from the government for the total advertising of this mess was $700 million. I’ll take the over in the final number. This is after spending $600 million on the wonderful glitch-free website.
Let’s assess the tremendous success the Savior was blustering about yesterday. He sold the plan to the American public back in 2009 with a number of promises:
CITIZENS OF THE WORLD: Mexican Military Held Border Patrol at Gunpoint Inside U.S. Borders
In the latest Mexican military incursion into the United States, two heavily armed camouflaged soldiers from Mexico actually crossed 50 yards inside Arizona and held American Border Patrol agents at gunpoint in a tense confrontation.
Armed with assault-style weapons, the Mexican soldiers retreated back south after a 35-minute standoff as if nothing ever happened and the Obama administration just let it slide. The unbelievable foray was made public by a mainstream newspaper that obtained government documents with alarming details of the January 26 incident. Specifically, the paper cites the Border Patrol Foreign Military Incursion report and a separate letter from U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske, an Obama appointee who was recently sworn in.
The Mexican soldiers were spotted by a Border Patrol agent entering the U.S. about 2.5 miles west of Sasabe Arizona shortly before 9 a.m. A second federal agent positively identified the two individuals in tan, digital camouflage uniforms, on foot traveling westbound, on the United States side of the International Boundary Fence Line, according to the report obtained by the newspaper. The Mexicans misidentified themselves to U.S. Border agents and claimed to be pursuing drug smugglers, the government documents say.
Kerlikowske admits that the intruders were “confirmed members of the Mexican military” but he asserts that U.S. border officials determined that no further action was necessary involving the matter. Like a loyal Obama lapdog Kerlikowske claims military incursions from Mexico are infrequent though he was apparently forced to admit that there were 23 incidents in the Tucson and Yuma sectors of Arizona since 2010, including three this fiscal year alone.
The latest incursion was one of the most serious in recent years, according to U.S. officials that apparently didn’t want their name printed in the newspaper. The same officials, clearly insiders privy to information that’s not made public, seem to indicate that Mexican soldiers aren’t chasing drug smugglers but rather protecting cartels as they transport their cargo into the United States through the treacherous desert.
Let me repeat: members of the Mexican military weren't pursuing drug- or human-smugglers. They were protecting drug cartels inside the United States of America.
November is coming.

NICE: Obama EPA conducted hazardous experiments on humans in manner reminiscent of Nazi doctors
It turns out that while environmentalist groups try to link fracking to cancer, the Environmental Protection Agency was actively exposing people to dangerous carcinogens — for their own good, of course.
An EPA inspector general's report found that the agency did obtain approval to conduct five "human research studies" exposing "81 human study subjects to" toxic pollutants including diesel exhaust. The IG report found that "exposure risks were not always consistently represented."
So the EPA asked people to expose themselves to dangerous pollutants — some at levels 50 times greater than what is safe — but didn’t tell them about the dangers.
Now why would the EPA perform such dangerous and unconscionable experiments on humans, especially on the elderly and infirm?
Why, they're doing it for the children, of course:
These experiments exposed people, including those with asthma and heart problems, to dangerously high levels of toxic pollutants, including diesel fumes, reads a EPA inspector general report obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation. The EPA also exposed people with health issues to levels of pollutants up to 50 times greater than the agency says is safe for humans.
The EPA conducted five experiments in 2010 and 2011 to look at the health effects of particulate matter, or PM, and diesel exhaust on humans. The IG’s report found that the EPA did get consent forms from 81 people in five studies. But the IG also found that “exposure risks were not always consistently represented.”
So what if some old and sick people die?
The ends justify the means, peons -- didn't you ever learn that in school?

LATEST OBAMACARE LIE SHREDDED: 7.1 million enrollment number is bogus; only 858,000 have paid premiums
Even worse? 858,000 is an infinitesimally small fraction of the "46 million"* uninsured Americans that Obamacare was supposed to address.
Yes, it's true: Democrats destroyed the American health care system for nothing.
A triumphant President Barack Obama declared Tuesday his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America's health care system 'a lot better' in a Rose Garden press conference... But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged appearance is a more unsettling reality.
Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night.
...Others were already insured, including millions who lost coverage when their existing policies were suddenly cancelled because they didn't meet Obamacare's strict minimum requirements.
...The president took no questions from reporters, but celebrated the end of a rocky six-month open-enrollment period by taking pot shots at Republicans who have opposed the law from the beginning as a government-run seizure of one-seventh of the U.S. economy.
'The debate over repealing this law is over,' he insisted. 'The Affordable Care Act is here to stay.'
The president also chided conservatives 'who have based their entire political agenda on repealing it,' and praised congressional Democrats for their partisan passage of the law without a single GOP vote.
As Aleister observes, For months we were told it was impossible to quote exact ObamaCare enrollment numbers yet somehow, one day after the close of open enrollment the Obama administration has suddenly announced the incredibly specific number of 7.1 million enrollees.
* 46 million uninsured? Yes, that's another lie. Hat tip: Weasel Zippers.
ERIC CANTOR'S INSIDER TRADING KABUKI DANCE: Let's Call it the Beltway Hokey Pokey
Back in 2012, Eric Cantor dazzled us with his STOCK Act Hokey Pokey. Today he is going to teach us how to do this clever dance game.

QOTD: "MR. DRISCOLL: And Andrew, last question. What does your crystal ball forecast for the next few years of the Middle East, and Israel and America’s response to Iran?
MR. BOSTOM: It’s getting pretty dark. And I’m very concerned. I was hoping that in its own small way this book might concentrate minds about the need to do something, something to at least delay Iran’s nuclear program. Because if they develop a nuclear program, I think it’s going to be very, very destabilizing.
And, you know, are we going to have to depend on things like, you know, declining population, et cetera, to be a countervailing force? I wouldn’t hold too much hope in that. I think it’s going to be very chaotic and dangerous if Iran has a nuclear program.
Beyond that, I really can’t say. I do hope that Western societies begin to appreciate and stop denying the animating ideology. We’re living in an age of very vibrant Jihadism. And it comes wrapped in a package of pretty virulent Islamic anti-Semitism [and] general hatred of non-Muslims. And these attitudes are widely prevalent. They’re widely dangerous. They’re not healthy for the societies that are perpetuating them themselves. But they’re certainly not healthy for non-Muslim societies.
And I think there’s going to be more conflict. Maybe there’ll be a hiatus when there’s terrible internecine conflict, as we’re seeing in Syria. But I think we’re headed for very, very dangerous times. And an appeasement mentality, a denial mentality, is only going to make matters worse." --Ed Driscoll interviews Andrew Bostom
