COMING SOON: The 8th Annual Fabulous 50 Blog Awards... #Fab50

Punt the Pulitzers! Flush those stinking Nobel Prizes! Forget the Oscars! Kick the Kardashians to the kurb! There's only one award ceremony worth watching and let's all admit it.

Every year at this time we are pleased to announce the winners of the 2015 Fabulous 50 Blog Awards™ (Note: until the award ceremony, this link refers to last year's winners), recognizing the year's 50 most important blogs and websites in the conservative world. There are no judges. No debates. No voting. No nominations. Just facts. Immutable truths, chiseled in stone and then forged in molten steel on Zeus' anvil for posterity. No prize carries more panache, more prestige, or more sex appeal than a Fab 50 Award, save something you might find in a Crackerjacks box.

If you are a winner, click the award badge that you would like to use, then copy the text in the HTML block below to paste into your template. Losing blogs are free, of course, to utilize the bold, fresh LOSER badge.

  1. Has Google been hitting conservative sites recently? My language website has nothing to do with politics, but Google knows who I am and punishes me for it anyway, My hits are WAAAAY down.

An entry such as "if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas" got zero hits yesterday. A week ago people were looking for this and coming to my website, but the day before Christmas they all stop?

I have almost 13,000 entries and I get 1,900 hits? My colleague the Quote Investigator has about 1,000 entries and gets 15,000 hits a day.

My colleagues on Google's YouTube get strikes and get their channels removed for complete nonsense. They show a still picture (not even a second of a video) and they get a copyright strike.

Google is a monopoly and has no customer service at all, so there is no one to talk to. Have others experience the same?

  2. Barry, I haven't noticed that for my sites.

What is the URL and I'll check it out?

Merry Xmas and Best Wishes for 2016!

  3. For my site, it's absolutely ridiculous. Checking Bing vs. Google (bingiton.com) for "if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry christmas," my site is either #2 or #5 on the first search page. Yesterday, I got ZERO hits!

Usually, my work is not ranked that high. For example, in 2010, I researched "Undocumented Democrat" (illegal alien), tracing it to 2005-2006. There was also an Urban Dictionary entry for that term in 2010 (without the historical linked citations I provide). NPR recently wrote that Ted Cruz coined "undocumented Democrat." The New York Times also wrote that Ted Cruz coined "undocumented Democrat. The Weekly Standard said, sheesh, they both can't even Google, Rush Limbaugh used the term in 2013!

Rush Limbaugh, in his last show this year, cited The Weekly Standard and said that, yes, he did coin the term, in 2010. I revised my 2010 entry, noting the use--but incorrect coinage credits--to both Ted Cruz and Rush Limbaugh. My entry on "Undocumented Democrat" is the only complete one that can be found.

I told Jonah Goldberg at NRO on Twitter that he had used "undocumented Democrat" in 2006, four years before Rush Limbaugh. That generated about 100 website hits.

Bing currently has my work on page three. Google has my work on page five. That means that my work will never found. The crappy Urban Dictionary, of course, is on the first page of both Google and Bing.

There's much more like this. Merry Christmas, anyway!
