Obama camp demands Romney's tax returns from '80s
President Obama’s re-election campaign is calling on Mitt Romney to release his tax returns dating back to the 1980s, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Following a front-page Wall Street Journal article Thursday reporting that employees at Bain Capital, Romney’s former private-equity firm, were allowed to invest their retirement money in companies the firm acquired through a special share class, the Obama camp is seeking Romney’s old tax returns to see if they contain information about the investment arrangement... “Today’s report raises additional questions about Gov. Romney’s manipulation of the tax laws,” Ben LaBolt, an Obama spokesman, told The Journal, adding that Romney “may have engaged in questionable maneuvers to drive up the value of his IRA.”
Romney released his 2010 and preliminary 2011 tax returns earlier this year.
The Romney campaign pushed back Friday with their own request in an e-mail to National Journal: that Obama release the transcripts of all his meetings with world leaders... “The Obama campaign is playing politics, just as he’s doing in his conduct of foreign policy," Romney spokesperson Andrea Saul wrote. "Obama should release the notes and transcripts of all his meetings with world leaders so the American people can be satisfied that he’s not promising to sell out the country’s interests after the election is over.”
Hey, Romney advisers (note that I refrained from saying, "Hey, schmucks") -- the way you respond is like this:
...seven years after Barack Obama burst onto the national political scene, we still await the disclosure of his background records.
1. Occidental College records and transcripts -- Not released
2. Columbia University records and transcripts -- Not released
3. Columbia Thesis paper -- 'not available'
4. Harvard University records and transcripts -- Not released
5. Medical records -- Not released
6. Illinois State Senate schedule -- 'not available'
7. Illinois State Senate records -- 'not available'
8. Law practice client list -- Not released
9. Certified Copy of Original Birth certificate -- Not released
10. Harvard Law Review articles published -- None
11. University of Chicago scholarly articles -- None
12. Record of Baptism -- Not released or 'not available'
Of course, there are different standards for legacy media's preferred candidates. Remember how the media unearthed Rick Perry's college transcripts within 48 hours of the announcement of his candidacy?
The stupid, it burns.

Missing a few items that Obama hasn't disclosed:
ReplyDelete• Source of his tuition to Occidental, Columbia, and Harvard.
• Source of funds for his 1981 trip to Pakistan.
Maybe I missed it, but has "Teh Won" released 'any' of his tax returns?
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see his passport(s).
ReplyDeleteIf I was running against the Kenyan usurper in chief, I'd clamp my teeth on his lack of a birth certificate and never let go. I'd shake that thing like a pitbull on a bloody sock. And as soon as the left started to squeal I'd go after the phony SS number. And when the left starts to go pluperfect insane, I'd drag Bill Ayers and his bloody companion Bernadine Dorne into the lime light. And when the feces really starts to hit the fan, I'd start a new front on his birth certificate. And to add injury to insult, little things like his missing 5 years in and around his trip('s) to Pakistan when that nation was off limits to American's. And to really spice things up, I'd be asking the anointed one the very exposing question on prime time TV debates how does he explain the simple FACT the his supposed father Hussein Sr. was a British subject, and the Truth that makes Mr. Fundamental Changing America ineligible to ever sit his lying arse in the oval office.
ReplyDeleteJust the fun to be had at the lefts expense alone is worth whatever the cost, even loosing the election. Because like the left does incessantly, it controls the narrative, it sets to put its foes off guard and have to play catchup. Obama and his ilk have handed his opponents a gift from heaven on a silver platter, with all the trimmings, complete with a world class just desserts.
Whooooo Hoooo!
Barry's a mystery, wrapped in a stammer, and stuff into a clusterf**k.
ReplyDeleteProblem Top Patriot is romney wont touch a single topic you just listed.
ReplyDeleteRomney for pres=4more years of obama
America is Fked
The Romney camp is missing a great opportunity if they do not offer a neutral site document exchange. Leave the birth certificate out as Sheriff Joe is taking the heat on those. Romney should bring all those taxes, college transcripts, passports, visas, etc. for an exchange of same. Betcha Obama flinches and if possible looks even worse.
ReplyDeletePerhaps Romney could reply with blank returns, or heavily redacted ones, from the years in question.
ReplyDeleteOh the IRONY!-- This from the idiot who won't release his college transcripts, his real birth certificate, or any other pertinent records!-- Hey BHO ---Pound Sand!
ReplyDeleteAnon 3:47PM,
ReplyDeleteHis passport records have already been 'cleansed'. Don't you remember way back in February 2008 that little kerfluffle about how 'someone' at the State Department had gone through the passport records of the three major candidates? And that 'somone' was found to be a contract worker for a company which just so happened to be owned by one of Obama's big donors?
Now ask yourself what purpose would it serve to go through McCain and Hillary Clinton's passport records? McCain had been a senator for decades-his movements were public record. Hillary Clinton was married to a governor, was First Lady, then a Senator and her movements were a matter of public record. Neither one of them could just go off on a 'vacation' to Pakistan without someone knowing about it.
No, the target was Obama's records. I suspect the reason why is because on his 1981 Pakistan trip his passport only showed his reentry to the US, not his leaving it. Why? Because it would be much easier for him to enter Pakistan if he used another passport, say one from Indonesia, then a US one.
This is an age old trick. My ex was a dual citizen-he held Canadian and British passports. he would use his British passport to enter the UK and use his Canadian one to enter the US. Why? Because using the Canadian one meant he did not have to obtain a visa to enter the US and he had no hassles entering the UK.
I think Romney's response was appropriate. Take the high road and keep the narrative on how things directly affect the presidency, even if the other side brings up irrelevant arguments about the past. Romney is focused on the here and now and how to best help the USA.
