...I was not prepared for a conversation I had at Thanksgiving dinner with my brother-in-law, Henry, who has lived most of his life in a home for the mentally disabled and although now in his 40s, has the intelligence level of a 6-year-old.
“Obama saved me,” he said to me out of the blue.
“What do you mean?”
“I voted for him for president and now he’s saving me.”
I was taken aback by these words, since Henry had no idea who Obama was, or what a president might be, and would be unable to fill out a registration form let alone get to the polling place by himself.
So I asked him how he knew that and how he had registered and cast his vote. In halting, impeded speech he told me that the people who take care of him at the home filled out “the papers” to register him to vote, told him how Obama cared for him, even taught him the Obama chants, and then took him to the polling place to vote. They did the same for all of the mentally disabled patients in their care, approximately 60 in all.
Had today's report been the only such example, one could probably chalk it up to hyperbole. But there are others:
The father of a mentally handicapped woman claims his daughter and others were "carted off" to a North Carolina polling site last week and "coaxed" into voting for President Obama by workers of the group home where she stays -- a claim the owner of the home disputes and that apparently has not yet triggered an investigation by election officials.
The father, Cecil Pearson, said his daughter - who is 40 but has the "mentality ... of a 7-year-old" - was "brainwashed the night before" and then taken to a Roanoke Rapids polling site on Friday to vote. He said his daughter told him what happened when he picked her up on Sunday.
"They brought her a piece of paper and they indicated which block to check," Pearson [said,] "She voted for Barack Obama and was coaxed into doing that." He claimed "more than four" people were brought to the site.
Including this one:
Jimmy Green's stepdaughter had never voted before. The 57-year-old is mentally disabled, and Green said she doesn't understand the concept of casting a ballot.
But this week, she called her parents to say she had voted for President Obama. The care home in Fayetteville where she lives registered its residents to vote and drove them to the polls, Green said...
"My concern is that somebody told her who to vote for," he said. "She didn't even know there's two different parties."
Such an orchestrated, systematized process to corrupt the voting process begs the question: are there any Democrats left who possess virtue and integrity?
Hat tip: R.S.
The answer to your question as to whether there are any Democrats who possess integrity is a resounding NO, and it would seem that when it comes to getting what they want they also lack a conscience.
ReplyDeleteGosh,I could run out of adjectives commenting here. How about vile, dishonest, self-serving, disgusting, base, lacking in integrity.....
ReplyDeleteAlthough showing the same modus operandi that questionably won re-election for the revulsion in chief.
This is common. When we researched it in Jefferson County, MO, we found proof that those without the franchise (mentally incapable and under care of a guardian), were routinely registered, and the local registrar would come to get their votes. We pulled a list from the local voter role and identified over 50 people who lived in homes. Some were just older, but many were not eligible.
ReplyDeleteThe interest in clearing the problem up was zero. It's small fraud, around the edges, but officeholders were afraid of being attacked for cleaning those rolls.
Has to be done through organizations like True the Vote, who care more about honesty than their office.
When I was in graduate school working on my master's in English, one class got into an argument about "absolute truth." There was no such thing, one young feminist claimed. What one individual deems good for him or her self, he/she should do.
ReplyDeleteThis was so utterly inane that I immediately countered with, "Oh, so if some guy raped you, you wouldn't demand the law do something?" She said lamely, "Well, if it was right for him..." We all laughed because everyone knew that's not how it would have gone down, so to speak.
This incident reveals the underlying issue. Leftists do not believe in truth, nor do they believe in God. Thus any action is justified, as long as they, the anointed, have determined their higher purpose is the proper course.
Workers'" rights. Abortion. Social "justice." Free stuff. Punish the successful, except the Leftist.
All godless, all communist. All part of the culture of death. Any action is justified. There's no conscience problem.
Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias talks about Dawkins' overly confident insistence that religion is stupid and religious fanatics should be ridiculed. Ravi says ok. I will support you in this endeavor. I will even buy your ticket, as long as you start in Saudi Arabia.
I am a firm believer that what goes around comes around; God'll get 'em. We don't know when but justice will be served.
Real justice.
"Such an orchestrated, systematized process to corrupt the voting process begs the question: are there any Democrats left who possess virtue and integrity?"
ReplyDeleteGee, that question leaves me a quandry. I'm only 57, and don't know of any in my lifetime. Kennedy stole his election. LBJ? LoL. Tip O'Neill? Even more LoL.
The question should be, "Have there ever been any..."
Whereas Republicans run the mentally ill for office.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, there is a difference between mentally ill & mentally disabled. You'd think someone w/ a developmentally disabled brother-in-law would understand the difference, but Republicans just don't understand much, especially if it involves other people, do they?
You shall reap what you have sown, I hope you have many children who will have to live with the burden you and your ilk have brought to this once great country............

ReplyDeleteOh yeah, because feminists are always advocating for the rights of rapists to do what they will. The sad part is, the rest of your ilk will gladly lap up the lies you puke out because it justifies their hatred. Remind me, how's your god feel about bearing false witness again?
@Bouffant,
ReplyDeleteNice totalitarian aura you're emanating.
Instead of a civil debate about ballot integrity, simply tar candidates with whom you disagree as mentally defective.
Just what I expected from the post-partisan presidency, who claimed Paul Ryan was gonna roll granny off the cliff and that Mitt Romney gave someone's wife cancer.

ReplyDeleteApparently Anonymous believes I lied about this situation. Obviously you've never been in a graduate English class, where arguments border on the competitively insane to make a point. The point of that TRUE illustration is that Leftist argument breaks down upon questioning, primarily because as conservatives we've passively accepted their boorish behavior and idiotic lack of reason. Self-important cannot describe the English PhD candidate.
Believe what you want. It makes no difference to the truth, which prevails beyond and in spite of your silly existence. Flail away. It may be Friday now, but Sunday's comin.'
Concerned family should take their handicapped loved ones to "early vote" on the first possible day next time, pre-empting the criminal enterprise at the nursing homes. Also cancelling out the crap they voted for in 2012.
ReplyDeletegsiuProbably more aware of their actions than most Democrat voters.
ReplyDelete"Apparently Anonymous believes I lied about this situation."
ReplyDeleteNo, Sunny Jim. Anonymous doesn't *believe* you lied about this situation. Anonymous *knows* you lied about this situation.
"Obviously you've never been in a graduate English class, where arguments border on the competitively insane to make a point."
Obviously you've never learned the difference between "anecdote" and "data".

Oh yeah, use all caps, that'll make it more believable that you had a feminist arguing for rapists' rights while the rest of your peers wisely laughed along with you.

Right, I forgot, "god" will get us. Justice will be served. More likely, you'll sit and stew in your fantasies of vengeance from on high, pining for a glorious past that never existed, while the world moves on without you. Thanks for the laughs, guys.

ReplyDeleteIf you care about context at all, Tea Party's point was that the argument for complete moral relativism utterly breaks down when it comes to personal application. She was using this example to show that the other person clearly didn't believe what she was saying, that it was utter sophistry.
You're making yourself look really silly here.
So the issue is whether the democrats have any integrity? Give me a break. What Presidential candidate stood by while Don Trump and others ranted and raved about Obama's birth certificate? No amount of evidence could make these people admit they were just wrong. Obama's birth certificate was published and it said right on it that he was born in Hawaii after it became a state. People "with integrity" would have given up this line of attack once they saw the birth certificate. Romney had his ass kicked this election because the majority of voters saw through the GOP's moral bankruptcy this year. I'll make a further prediction: Until the GOP renounces extremists and fools in its ranks it will lose every presidential election from here out.
