QOTD: "there’s a certain amount of absurdity in Clinton criticizing the foreign policy of an Administration that she was not only a part of, but in which she played a key role in shaping that very foreign policy. No doubt, when she runs for office she will be relying heavily on her experience at Foggy Bottom to make the argument that she is ready to be President, indeed it would be extraordinary if she didn’t.
If she’s going to claim her time as Secretary of State as an argument in her favor, though, then it seems to me as though she is going to have a hard time criticizing the Administration for policies that she played a role in developing. Even accepting the argument that she makes regarding the connections between the Obama Administration’s decision to not intervene directly in the Syrian civil war and the rise of ISIS/the Islamic State, the idea that it was merely the one thing she disagreed with the President about that led to the events we see unfolding today is simply absurd.
There were a number of events that contributed to today’s state of affairs, many of which involve policies that Clinton favored, and if you’re going to make the argument that one failure by this Administration is responsible then you have to look at all of them, including the ones that Mrs. Clinton played a role in. You can’t claim the credit without accepting at least some of the blame, but that seems to be exactly what Hillary Clinton wants to do when it comes to the foreign policy of the Obama Administration." --Doug 'Paragraph' Mataconis
All the pressure our Dear Leader is suffering comes from the growing pains of America and the world. He did what he said he would do and the Obama Doctrine expects everyone to grow up and find their own level without America's parental support. All the yammering and angst of old expectations must be replaced by reality and that is what Barack is bringing us. Grow up people, accept the world for what it is, not what you want it to be. We're equal players now and we must get used to a proportionally smaller piece of the pie. Congratulations Mr. President, stay strong, your legacy is being forged in the cauldrons of antiquity and will be quenched in the salt water of freedom.
ReplyDeleteYea, when you're not the lead dog the scenery never changes.
ReplyDeleteC'mon people. Hillary's appointment to SecState was entirely political. Like giving a better job title without a promotion. Everyone understood that Obama and Jarrett were making all the decisions, so how can you blame Hillary?
ReplyDeleteIt is entirely reasonable that she should now criticize the policies which she had to rubber-stamp in office. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been a loyal, reliable team player and hack. Disagreement would have made her unfit for further office. Now, she is embracing risk and truth outside the clutches of her prior responsibilities to agree and agree.
Remember her two great accomplishments. One was the red RESET button which she presented to Ledbedev-Putin. That brilliant piece of stage-play restructured our relationship to Russia. We're friends now.
Second, she has promoted her tiring, dedicated world travel tour in office. Travel broadens the mind, and it certainly has broadened her. She has looked personally into the eyes of many world leaders and their designees, and hasn't blinked in her support of US interests.
Support her for the innovative policies which she couldn't pursue in office. Support her for her willingness to travel for her country. Support her as a loyal and female American, and a former First Lady to an admittedly diffult President to live beside. And, for her laugh always just below the surface and often expressed.
