There's a startling post over at Truth Over News describing the scandalous use of NGOs by our federal elites. It seems our betters are leveraging these organizations as an off-the-books shadow government funded by - guess who? - you and I.
As the authors state, "... [NGOs] exist primarily to enact policies that our out-of-control federal agencies want to establish, but are legally prohibited from doing so..."
How bad is it? Here are 10 items of note:
- NGOs are essentially functioning as a shadow government, doing what federal agencies legally can't do themselves (how convenient!)
- The US is contributing $4.1 billion to the UN in 2024, up from $3.4 billion in 2023 - because apparently we just have spare billions we didn't send to Ukraine
- Additional "voluntary contributions" through the State Department more than double the official UN funding
- The State Department's PRM and USAID gave the UN's International Organization of Migration $1.4 billion in just 12 months
- The UN is spending nearly $1.6 billion on services for US-bound migrants, including (shocking!) debit cards and "humanitarian transportation"
- Faith-based organizations, particularly Catholic Charities, are major recipients of government funding for migrant assistance
- A failed 2024 "Border Bill" attempted to allocate an additional $11.7 billion for various refugee and migration assistance programs
- The State Department has been funding infrastructure to increase asylum processing capacity in Mexico by 400%
- Multiple FEMA programs are providing hundreds of millions in funding to NGOs for illegal immigration.
- The entire system appears designed to circumvent constitutional constraints while using taxpayer money to fund activities most taxpayers would oppose.
Given these facts, the incoming administration must fully defund every NGO until, er, we can be sure what's going on. It's the only way to be sure.
And it would seem this kind of intentional misuse of taxpayer dollars could be actionable in some cases.
Note: I highly recommend Truth Over News - these guys aren't messing around.
