I toured the U.S.S. Missouri a few years ago. There is a roped-off plaque on the deck where the signing took place. It was quite something to stand on that very spot.
Gee whiz - this newsreel seems inaccurate. I am fairly certain our current Commander in Chief said something about Hirohito coming down and signing the surrender. What is all of this about a surrender cabinet?
