The self-proclaimed "Queen of All Media" -- Perez Hilton -- points us to a blistering attack on Fox News by media superstar Keith Olbermann™.
Keith Olbermann has once again taken on Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly, after Twitter users lashed out at him for supporting a liberal-slanted website... He responded by writing:
FYI: in reply to "highly ironic that you support Daily Kos yet think Fox News is slanted" I said: Fox News is 100% bulls**t. And it is.
@mtovet you're right: I don't have as much hate or as many lies in me as O'Reilly
@tonyperry1 I did it because his network is full of bulls**t & O'Reilly is full of bulls**t. & if you believe them you're full of bulls**t.
@DailyRushbo let's clarify this. Fox News is 100% Bulls**t. Rush Limbaugh is 100% Pigeons**t.
Wow! He is certainly not holding back, is he?!
Isn't Perez' use of punctuation intoxicating? But I digress.
"Faux News." "Liars." "Not really a news organization." "A right-wing propaganda machine."
The progressive left and its ilk -- like the man with the golden strap-on -- have a lot of descriptions for the country's dominant cable news channel. They claim that Fox fabricates news stories.
I want them to prove it. And I've got a 1-ounce Krugerrand from my Y2K bunker* (today's spot price: $1,400) waiting for Keith Olbermann or any 'progressive' who can provide me with a documented lie repeated by Fox News reporters.
There are just four simple rules:
• Typos don't qualify ("ooh, the news ticker used a 'D' after his name, not an 'R'!").
• The lie must have been reported by at least two Fox News reporters (not analysts, reporters).
• The transcripts and/or video clips must be available on a suitably trustworthy site for verification.
• The real news story, refuting the Fox News lie, must have been correctly reported at around the same time by at least one news reporter from CNN or MSNBC (with similar links and/or transcripts from their sites).
Just one lie! That's all I'm asking for. This should be the easiest $1,400 you've ever made, Keith. You've got to have a whole database of Fox lies, right? Just post your correctly documented answer in the comments section before January 15, 2011. That's two freaking weeks!
And given the devaluation of our currency by President Training Wheels, the Krugerrand could easily be worth $1,500 by then.
Ready? Get set... go!
* Since converted to a super-secret 2038 Bunker.
Update: Media Matters submits its response. This ought to be good.
Hat tip: Ame.

Keith Olbermann telling the truth about anything is simply unimaginable.
ReplyDeleteDoug, you are just so freaking kick ass awesome, I just had to tell you.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you'll be parting with that shiny coin any time soon.
I just told all the fans at that facebook page I run that they should come here to see how badass you are.
what do you think you do all the time
ReplyDeleteMediamatters.org. Done and done. Gold please
ReplyDeleteDude, this is why liberalism is the philosophy of the stupid.
ReplyDeleteJust document one freaking lie using the very simple rules.
Win free gold.
Dude, it's not that freaking hard to do, if there were actually a lie marketed by Fox.
Like Al Qaqaa, say, or John McCain's 'affair' with a lobbyist.
Whoops!
By definition Faux News is a lie.
ReplyDeleteDear anon @10:38 PM
ReplyDeleteBy typing AND posting that comment, you just defined stupid.
Fox news is in the ratings business, all news is the same but if you manipulate it to a certain target audience, you will get a better reaction, thus more ratings. Fox lies for money, theirs no denying that now, it's just sad to see Americans protecting a propaganda network that's sole mission is of for corporations and the rich and not the people who watch every night.
ReplyDeleteYou can't fix stupid, you can only protect them, even if that task is futile.
anon @10:38 PM,
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you point Uberdouche to just one of those lies? Maybe he'll split the booty with you.
Of all the news stations, Fox is my favorite, and, in my opinion, the most "fair and balanced". But they're not perfect. Even to the point of (rarely) lying. Since I'd love that money, I would suggest that the following video, of their killing a Monsanto story, might just count as a lie.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axU9ngbTxKw
Anonymous wants us the think he's so smart. Yet, why does he post anonymously?
ReplyDeleteHe's proven to be not only stupid, but a coward to boot. Wait a minute, Olbermann, is that you?
Maybe anonymous can also summon up facts for us from their superior selective logic trained mind and explain why the White House never called Glenn Beck's red phone to correct all his lies. They certainly never claimed they tried but couldn't get through as I recall. Just asking?
ReplyDeleteWhere's my $1,400? http://exm.nr/fhIyv7
ReplyDelete@Mike B and @KeithOlbermann 's anonymous sock-puppet. I'll say this slowly since you're apparently confused. Just follow the very, very simple rules of documenting the lie. Here's a made-up example:
ReplyDelete1. Shep Smith reported President Obama was born on Venus; see transcript at URL: http://foxnews.com/.........
2. Bret Baier repeated this lie; see transcript at ULR: http://foxnews.com/.........
3. CNN and MSNBC promptly corrected the lie; see MSNBC's transcript at http://msnbc.com/.........
That's all you have to do. Gee, this can't be too hard with "Faux News", can it?
Oh and @Mike B - that Soros-funded "study" has been thoroughly debunked:
ReplyDeletehttp://bigjournalism.com/wthuston/2010/12/20/soros-funded-university-poll-says-fox-news-viewers-most-misinformed-politically/
Most importantly, the PEOPLE of AMERICA trust FOX NEWS most.
But if you're saying the people are too stupid to know what's best for them, you'd be pretty much like the rest of the Statist left.
It's always so fun to watch the insane leftists go completely batty when trying to diminish the success of FOX News !!!
ReplyDeleteGreat work Doug !!!
LIES !!
LIES !!
LIES !!
But they can't show 1 simple little "lie"
Heck, for the $1,400, I might try to find a lie !!!
So Alan Colmes's commentary doesn't count?
ReplyDeleteNo fair. :^(
/andycanuck
1- Clip shows Fox and Friends (both Doocy and Gretchen) claiming the OFA director says Palin is more dangerous than terrorists. Video also shows the facts to refute it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Exctl-lde6M
ReplyDelete2- Here's a whole summary of the death book lies (basically more of the death panel lies). It's covered by multiple FNC reporters and debunked in the video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlCVAaBmQ2Q
Regardless, the lies aren't reporters saying "Look out! The sky is green!" The lies and bullsh*t are evident in how the reporters never challenge absurd lies by the right, and ask leading questions to suggest things that aren't true (for example, if I ask a stranger "Did Glenn Beck rape and murder a young girl in 1990?" I'm not lying. I'm simply asking a question.
Since Obama's election it's only gotten worse, causing some personalities (like Shepard Smith and Chris Wallace to even call out their own network for being misleading on the air) (see below):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5vzwJXszww
@I Said -
ReplyDelete1) Doocy says nothing false -- Palin was decried as "dangerous" by OFA. Gretchen does not claim that OFA made the comparison at all. She simply used hyperbole to mock the description of Palin as "dangerous".
FAIL.
2) Of course there are death panels. What else would you call HHS bureaucrats who must ration care? Presumably such rationing will be done according to presidential adviser Ezekiel Emanuel's "Complete Lives Formula" (documented copious all over the web, which is meant to decide who gets care and who doesn't because government can't pay for every treatment for everybody). Call these actuarial decisions what you want, but simply supply and demand ensures there will be commissions and agencies deciding who gets care and who doesn't. Even a first grader could figure that out. At least an honest first grader could, that is.
FAIL
Kids, is this really that hard? Faux News? Where's the faux part?
Uhm, what about the Monsanto-Milk cancer story Fox News killed and subsequently fired the reporters THEY hired to do the investigation, who later threatened to release how Fox was trying to hide the truth?

ReplyDeleteI am sure none of them, this blog is for is polarizing entertainment not actual factchecking or journalism. Much like Fox.
ReplyDeleteEasy bet to make since Faux News doesn't have any reporters. They're all analysts.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the neo-cons got all quiet when the proof showed up...
ReplyDeleteYour rules aren't simple, they're vague and up to you to adhere to, so nobody can win. Just move the goalposts and bam you can wipe your hands of any submissions. It's stunning that people root for classic trolls like this, you might as well say the reward is 1 cent or a waterboarding for charity.
ReplyDeleteJust a friendly reminder, that Sean Hannity has still not kept his promise of being waterboarded for charity.

ReplyDeleteYou can keep the coin, though. Save your money. Hopefully, at least your kids can get an education.
@directorblue and everyone else
ReplyDeleteDeath panels were never a part of the 2009 health care reform.
Betsy McCaughey, a columnist for the Wall Street Journal, distorted the facts and wrote about them in the piece, "Ruin Your Health with the Obama Stimulus Plan". Her claims were thouroghly debunked by several sources. But the damage was already done. People believed the article. Then in steps Sarah Palin and the American public was in uproar over 'death panels'.
If you read the original bill you would understand. Haha America is going down the drain with people like Betsy causing trouble...
FOX is more guilty of speculating and overt implications than straight lying, which they do also. They are also guilty of huge lies by ommission. You don't think it's odd that the week before the Iraq invasion, that 76% off FOX viewers believed that Iraq was responsible for the attacks on 9/11, had WMDs, and was a direct threat to America? Being so misinformed doesn't "just happen". It's very intentional and masterfully done.
ReplyDeleteYou are a fucktard.
ReplyDeleteSincerely,
Johnnyleetsauce
I just got those little dollar signs in my eyes.
ReplyDelete1. If a lie is asserted by a FOX analyst, it isn't a lie.
ReplyDelete2. If a lie is only asserted by one person, it isn't a lie.
3. If a lie is not corrected by MSNBC or CNN, it isn't a lie.

ReplyDelete@RedRocketAlien
ReplyDeleteThat is kinda a funny way to put it... I wonder why they have such odd rule?
RedRocketAlien,
ReplyDeleteI like how you think. Wanna job?
-FOX News
Can you clarify who qualifies as a Fox News Reporter?
ReplyDeleteIn the past there has been some confusion about who exactly is a reporter vs who is a "analyst", or a "host" on Fox News.
For example is Sean Hannity, or Glen Beck considered a Fox News reporter, anchor or host?
Your rules are completely arbitrary. Most of the people who appear on Fox News are either "analysts" or the hosts themselves. If Fox News provides a platform for people to regularly spout inaccurate statements without being challenging them then it's effectively a gateway for those inaccurate statements, whether or not they're being spouted by a reporter, an analyst, or Glenn Beck. Also, what are the chances that someone is going to spot a Fox News lie from three years ago and then comb through the transcripts of 3-year-old MSNBC and CNN shows to find the one report that refutes it?
ReplyDeleteAnd even if someone does meet all your arbitrary demands, let's just cut the BS; I've been an avid Internet user for over 10 years and I can't count the number of times that I've seen someone say "If you can prove this, I'll pay [insert amount of money]." You know how many times I've seen someone actually pay up? ZERO.
@redrocket at first I thought this could be interesting, as a viewer of fox news I really wanted to see if this task could be accomplished, however it is apparent, as you pointed out, that this is an impossible task. Even if Fox news lied these rules would make it impossible for a lie to count. I am ashamed of this post, I hope this blog is satirizing liberal logic and not serious
ReplyDeleteThe problem with Fox News and indeed with all of the 24hr news networks is not that they lie, but instead they display people giving opinions in a setting where the audience expects to hear NEWS. They are replacing information and facts with analysis and argument, which is detrimental to all parties involved since it allows certain logical fallacies to take hold in the national debate on important issues. (Here's a good list of some fallacies that both parties are guilty of http://www.theskepticsguide.org/resources/logicalfallacies.aspx ) One of the big ones that each party is guilty one is the "slippery slope" fallacy which tends to polarize opinions in debates that really should be waged on middle ground.
ReplyDeleteExamples:
GOP - Socialized health care will lead to socialized EVERYTHING
Dems - Keeping taxes low will bankrupt the system.
Fox News is just as biased towards the GOP as the MSNBC is towards the liberal Dems. Both parties are also victims of their own hypocrisies. The author even asserts that the only people who should be "trusted" to give unaltered facts are the reporters as opposed to the analysts. Yet analysts make up the majority of programming on these networks, so which group is the audience more likely to see: the unbiased reporters simply informing the public or the analysts who are very biased and who's opinions are very skewed toward their beliefs (liberal or conservative) and usually must be in line with that network's overall narrative?
Just who the heck is a journalist at Fox News? The line between journalist and analyst is blurred so you never know who is what on that network. It's all opinion wrapped up pseudo-facts wrapped up in a "some people say" game of telephone.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Fox News successfully argued in court appellate court in Florida in Feb 2003 that it was not illegal to lie or mislead the public - http://ceasespin.org/ceasespin_blog/ceasespin_blogger_files/fox_news_gets_okay_to_misinform_public.html
Take your moving goal-post of proof and stuff it!
Welcome to Bizarro-world!

Dude, come up with something difficult. Proving Fox News lies is like proving you have a blog. Look, you have a blog!
ReplyDeleteFox News's James Rosen lies about Obama's stance on gay marriage: http://video.foxnews.com/v/4303703/obama-disagrees-with-himself-on-gay-marriage They claim that Obama "had no problem at all with Prop 8" and refer to ABC's Jake Tapper's interview with Obama. Tapper: "Does it bother you, what California is doing?" Obama: "No."
Kimberly Schwandt (Emmy-award winning producer in Fox News Channel's Washington, DC bureau! But you'll disqualify her as "not a reporter", right?) repeats the lie: http://politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/08/05/his-own-words-president-obamas-nuanced-view-gay-marriage and this nitwit even includes the text proving SHE'S LYING in her blog post!
If you read the Tapper transcript: http://abcnews.go.com/WN/Politics/story?id=5178123&page=4", you'll see that Obama said that what he didn't have a problem with was California allowing gays to marry. TAPPER: "OK, last one, and that is same-sex marriage is now going on in California." TAPPER: "Does it bother you, what California's doing?" OBAMA: "No."
The MSNBC coverage, same day, transcript and video link here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38578941/ns/nbc_press/ "where the president stands on all of this. He has said he opposes same-sex marriage. He has said during the campaign he didn't mind what California voters were trying to do, trying to ban Prop 8."
Gimme money.
Oh look, a dozen people posted verified lies and now all the idiots who actually believe Fox News is a legitimate news organization are nowhere to be found. How convenient.
ReplyDeleteFox lied to the American people about Iraq. They falsely tied Iraq to 911 when there WAS NO CONNECTION.
ReplyDeleteFox News LIED and got this country into an illegal war because of it.
Fox News lied about Obama, I am not even going to start with all the lies Fox news has been drilling into peoples heads about Obama. Muslim, socialist, marxist, communist, not born in the US, etc.
Fox News is a cancer which is eating away at Americas heart.
http://mediamatters.org/blog/200912080051 fox news changed the results of this poll to push their agenda - this is one lie among many - when do I get my !1400 krugerrand
ReplyDelete1. Blogger says that if Fox News lies, he wants liberals to PROVE it to him.
ReplyDelete2. Blogger only allows proof from Fox reporters, not any of the rest of Fox.
3. Because reporters on Fox often serve as analysts on other shows, the Blogger will claim that any documented instance is invalid because the cited personalities are actually analysts.
4. When people point all this out, the Blogger is going to go "awww, is this too tough for you liberals" and act like we can't find an example of Fox News lying. Instead, what the Blogger basically did was say "Prove Fox News lied without using analysts... oops you can't, because everybody is an analyst. I automatically win". He defined his own victory conditions.
Fox News reported that people cheated to have Ron Paul win a debate when what they said was not possible. Fox News always reports negatively about Ron Paul.

Fox News appeals and wins court case stating they could legally give false or misleading news under the first amendment.

So, who won?
ReplyDeleteOh right, this blog is a fucking joke.
"We researched to find out if anybody on Fox News had ever said you're going to jail if you don't buy health insurance. Nobody's ever said it." - Bill O'Reilly on April 13th, 2010.
ReplyDelete"Under the Baucus bill, the so-called individual mandate would require everyone to buy health insurance or pay as much as a $1,900 fee. If you don't pay up, the IRS could punish you with a $25,000 fine or a year in jail." Paul Gigot Oct 3rd, 2009.
I believe Bill's 2010 statement constitutes a lie. I would like my money now, thx much.
Fox "accidentally" edited footage from a small Tea Party rally with footage from Glenn Becks' much larger 9/12 rally months before. How does crowd stock footage "accidentally" get edited in the digital age? Someone who works in Journalism; don't you take all the copy from the day and edit the shots? Is this a likely scenario, at all? Or deliberate misinformation to make the Tea Parties look more relevant than they are?

ReplyDeleteBrett Hume lies about AP story wording and says Bush Administration never tied Iraq and 9/11. But the Bush Administration did in a letter to Congress.
ReplyDeleteEven after Dick Cheney stated there was no tie Fox News (Hume) still reported "There's no question that Saddam Hussein had Al Qaeda ties.".
http://baltimorechronicle.com/062304FoxNews.html
I would like to point out that this is a Right-Wig Blog...I certainly don't expect the Blogger to actually pay out on any campaign promises...that would be counter to the party line.
ReplyDeleteThis blogger and the poor souls that believe "Fox News" is actual "News" is why the world laughs at you. People who believe Fox "news" is "news" are the same people that if lived in North Korea would believe Kim Jong Il made 5 hole in ones on his first trip to the golf course and shot 38 under. You're brainwashed fools and the rest of the world laughs at you then realizes how sad it is, then weeps.
ReplyDeleteThe problem isn't really that Fox lies (which they do). The problem is that they claim to be "fair and balanced" while doing so. At least MSNBC's slogan is "Lean Forward." Your average idiot doesn't realize how Fox is slanting the news towards them, and it shapes their opinions of things from a right-wingers perspective. But at the end of the day, none of this even matters because hardly anybody even watches cable news.
ReplyDeleteYou really are a peice of work. Please define which Fox News personal are "Reporters" and which are "Analysts". Are they always those roles, or do they change? By what criteria do you judge. Fox "news" certainly doesn't give a clear indication. You have set up a set of criteria that can be manipulated by you at will.
ReplyDeleteGood job! You bring being a hack to a new level.
Fox doesn't check facts and continues to report Obama travel was $200 million a day. News channel's shouldn't check facts?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yn7_8QL2weQ
Most of America laughs, then weeps too. I love how the OP offers a "valuable" gold coin and then "speculates" about how it will go up in value because of Obama. One of his sponsors is Gold-line!! The same damn scam on all those Right-wing bastions. Scare old people with socialism threats!! Buy gold to survive the upcoming econompocalypse!! Sell them worthless coins for twice their gold value. Laugh. Your stupidity is losing it's charm, Red America.
ReplyDeleteAll you Fox News lovers are so delusional its hilarious. Have fun handing over your $1,400. I like how you had to make your standards of proving a lie completely outrageous just so this didn't take someone all of 5 minutes to figure out. Have fun calling me stupid, I'm going to go look at my college degree. The only reason you think its such a trusted news network is because only old people get their news from the television, its a completely different story when you look at the most visited news websites.
ReplyDeletePEOPLE! None of these "news" networks have reporters because they do not do journalism, they do manipu-tainment. Stop believing this emotionally manipulative crap and learn real, principled political philosophies.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Learn and detect logical fallacies. That is all.
Anyone involved in the martial arts may be familiar with the term "Bullshido".
ReplyDeleteIt's a term that refers to the sort of faux-dojos that popped up all over when the US Karate craze started: dojos run by Caucasians with very little "real" training and populated by "wannabes".
In all this Bullshido, there is a rather notorious man known as "Ashida Kim"...a Gaijin who claims to be a Ninja.
He's written numerous ridiculous books like "Ninja Mind Control".
Of course he's the subject of much ridicule....and so he's offered a challenge to all who don't believe he's a real ninja.
"The 10,000$ challenge"
Anyone who wishes can challenge him to a fist-fight with a prize of 10,000$ to the winner.
Sounds good, right? The problem is mister Kim has provided so many loopholes for himself that the challenge is completely impractical and no one will ever undertake it:
- You must pay Mr Kim's air-fare, accommodation, etc.
- You must pay an "appearance fee"
- Mr Kim wins if he pins you for ten seconds.
Your "challenge" suffers similar short-commings, it's a ludicrous propaganda trick...and frankly it's incredibly pathetic.
You strike me as a child playing cops and robbers and who won't accept he got tagged and instead screams "NU UH..I HAVE A FORCE FIELD".
Any lie will probably be written off as a "factual error and not a deliberate lie".
Worse, you're going along with Fox new's ridiculous artificial distinction between "news" and "commentary". Anyone caught lying will be labeled a "commentator" and not a news person.
You've applied a completely artificial requirement that it be repeated by 2 separate people.
There's no reasonable justification for this except trying to provide an out for yourself.
A *reasonable* restriction would be to give Fox News a grace period to retract/correct the lie.
Saying it has to be said by two people is frankly stupid...it strikes me as being a clumsy attempt at "fair", but it shows how poorly this Fox News viewer understands that concept.
I could go on, but frankly the issue is moot.
The problem is not that Fox News claims "Mark Twain is still Alive!"
They're too smart to outright lie, and besides that sort of flat-out dishonest requires a level of self-awareness I don't think they're capable of.
Their lies are more insidious....they're lies that they themselves believe honestly.
Their lies are lies of omission, lies of misdirection.....
...and those are not covered by your "challenge".
Take the "death panels"...
The lie there is not the "death panels"....
Of course with government healthcare there would be something you could call "death panels"....
The lie is that by bringing it up Fox News implies that they are somehow unique to that system, or that we don't have them already....
As someone who has worked in healthcare for decades, I can assure you that they are very real...
I've seen diabetics have their prescription coverage withdrawn, depriving them of their medicine. Cancer patients refused treatment...I could go on and on....
Frankly I'm disgusted all around here...with "both sides"....this whole thing reeks of the sort of petty bullshit that American politics are mired in and which prevents us from making any real progress while the rest of the world slowly takes away our place as world innovator.
So you're basically saying that, in all the lies you've seen reported by Fox News, they've all been either a) stated by only one reporter, b) stated by someone arbitrarily labeled "analyst" instead of reporter, or c) were in stories CNN and/or MSNBC didn't happen to be covering at the time? And what does that prove exactly?

Cancer patients refused treatment...I could go on and on....these are very real possible death sentences.

Hi, I would like to enter a claim for the krugerrand.
ReplyDeleteHere's my entry:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJOsMq00wlw
and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS1NWYV1i_E&feature=related
I believe this satisfies all the requirements.
jesus christ, even their tag-line is a lie. they could literally say any flattering, out-of-context thing they want, and they STILL lie! fox news is full of shite, and so are you, you edentate rube.
ReplyDeleteWhat's with the obsequious criteria? Is a lie only a lie when two people say it? It is it only really a lie if a reporter says it, and not an analyst?
ReplyDeleteThis "challenge" reads like someone who is aware of a plethora of lies, yet is trying to construct some elaborate set of rules to evade what is patently obvious.
Christ, more than anything else, it's like you're desperately trying to convince yourself of something.
You should just award yourself the
$1500. Then maybe you can feed your mind with something better than than Kool-Aid.
I can't even tell if this is a joke or not. If even 1/10 of what people say about Fox News is correct, is it still worth defending? People who stick to Reuters don't have to defend themselves with money prizes. You sound like a shill. Why risk going down with a ship unless you have something vested in it?
Actually Fox fought and won in court the right to lie in the news. It was a case involving Monsanto. A reporter was fired because he wouldn't report what he knew was a lie and the court ruled in Fox's favor when he sued. There is no legal requirement that the news be an accurate reflection of the truth.
ReplyDeleteFOX News lies, gold please.
Will you please document your parting with the gold coin?
ReplyDeleteThe Daily Show and Colbert Report both show how all media is absurd and distorts information.
ReplyDeleteFox News is an easy and frequent target for them because of the obvious bias and misinformation from many of its reporters.
In your post, you quote Olbermann several times referring to Bill O'Reilly, yet you exclude O'Reilly from your little game?
ReplyDeleteYour limitations are improperly reframing the above quotes. It's a straw man logical fallacy, and if you have any intellectual integrity, you'll address this. I won't hold my breath.
I am not American, I do not live in America, and I do not watch FOX news.
ReplyDeleteHowever I have the impression that the rules are rigged to prove your point.
Therefore, for the sake of fair debate, if you are reading this, do report FOX news lies even if...
• The lie has been reported by anyone at Fox News. (including analysts) - Rationale: Fox News should be responsible for the content it divulgates.
• The real news story, refuting the Fox News lie, must be correctly reported by at least one news reporter from CNN or MSNBC (with similar links and/or transcripts from their sites) at any time.
Fox News must NOT have issued corrections to its previous statements at around the same time. - Rationale: Everyone can make mistakes, but when a news agency does, it should admit them.
You will not get the $1,400 but you will have proven that Fox News lies anyways.
Funny how republicans can't talk over you on the internet. I don't think the disappeared because people who know Fox is bullshit showed up though. I think that people of that age just have a difficult time staying up past 8 pm anymore.
ReplyDeleteWhy not any other news stations? ABC? CBS? Al Jazeera, BBC, etc.?
ReplyDeleteEither this proves they lie, or it proves they do not research their facts.
ReplyDeleteKeep your $1400 gold, im happy knowing fox news doesn't research their facts, as there is no way i can see you actually accepting their lie.

You've got to love the first couple posts from his "minions."
ReplyDelete"OMG I love you blogger you are so right!"
Funny how he's sponsored by the same company Glenn Beck has a stake in. Poor sheep...
By the way, he owes about $100,000 and counting right now. Hold him to it people.
He owes $100,000? No worries I'm sure Rupert Murdoch will just pony up. It's not as if Glenn Beck's show has any sponsors, why should this blog have any?
ReplyDeleteSure, Fox News calls Eric Shawn a anchor, here is his bio:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.foxnews.com/bios/talent/eric-shawn/
Here is where he lied:

Hold on - is "Death Panels" simply a euphemism for healthcare rationing?
ReplyDeleteEvery hospital does this. It's called Triage.
@anon
ReplyDeletenope, not Triage. What we have is the OPPOSITE of Triage.
Instead of rationing healthcare based on who needs it the most, we've been rationing healthcare based on who can afford it the most.

ReplyDeleteIf you want to see lots of fox news distortions, lies, omissions, fabrications and propaganda then watch liberal viewers videos on youtube.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/user/LiberalViewer
Here is Fox News admitting to fabricating. This took about 3 minutes on Google to find a time Fox News was caught lying:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2004/oct/04/digitalmedia.uselections2004
Here is Fox News apologizing for using fake footage:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jf9LZUZHnac
Both of these were done by reporters, not pundits. Fox News admitting to the lies = unarguable evidence, and they have plead guilty.
Keep your coin, buy some common sense with it.

ReplyDeletegold please
You guys keep failing on this one:
ReplyDelete• The transcripts and/or video clips must be available on a suitably trustworthy site for verification.
Whenever you post links to MediaMatters.
The point isn't that Fox News reporters regularly lie, it's that the whole channel operates with a narrative in mind. MSNBC and CNN do this too, but to a lesser extent. Fox selectively presents information in such a way that it supports this narrative. They often use phrases like "some are saying," etc.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you define an "analyst" anyway? The most often used tactics flow through who they choose to interview, not the shows' hosts (expect for Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly).
The lie question is ignoring the bigger picture here: Fox, MSNBC, and CNN stick to a pre-defined narrative when presenting information.
I love how this comment thread turned out. Look at anything that Fox "News" reported on Obama's life during the 2008 election.
ReplyDeleteAlso: OP will -NOT- delivar.
On February 14, a Florida Appeals court ruled there is absolutely nothing illegal about lying, concealing or distorting information by a major press organization. The court reversed the $425,000 jury verdict in favor of journalist Jane Akre who charged she was pressured by Fox Television management and lawyers to air what she knew and documented to be false information. The ruling basically declares it is technically not against any law, rule, or regulation to deliberately lie or distort the news on a television broadcast.
ReplyDeleteOn August 18, 2000, a six-person jury was unanimous in its conclusion that Akre was indeed fired for threatening to report the station's pressure to broadcast what jurors decided was "a false, distorted, or slanted" story about the widespread use of growth hormone in dairy cows.
The court did not dispute the heart of Akre's claim, that Fox pressured her to broadcast a false story to protect the broadcaster from having to defend the truth in court, as well as suffer the ire of irate advertisers. Fox argued from the first, and failed on three separate occasions, in front of three different judges, to have the case tossed out on the grounds there is no hard, fast, and written rule against deliberate distortion of the news.
The attorneys for Fox, owned by media baron Rupert Murdoch, argued the First Amendment gives broadcasters the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on the public airwaves.
In its six-page written decision, the Court of Appeals held that the Federal Communications Commission position against news distortion is only a "policy," not a promulgated law, rule, or regulation. Fox aired a report after the ruling saying it was "totally vindicated" by the verdict.
Mike Gaddy just handed your moronic asses to you. Give him the gold.
ReplyDeleteOl' fundie here has been completely pwned. Hardest I have laughed in a few months. He'll keep his "coin", gotta keep the ship tight for when all those dang libruls run this country into the ground! LOL.
ReplyDelete"Poll Also Finds Voters Were Misinformed on Key Issues"
ReplyDeleteA study by The University of Maryland
"Those who watched Fox News almost daily were significantly more likely than those who never watched it to believe that most economists estimate the stimulus caused job losses (12 points more likely), most economists have estimated the health care law will worsen the deficit (31 points), the economy is getting worse (26 points), most scientists do not agree that climate change is occurring (30 points), the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts (14 points), their own income taxes have gone up (14 points), the auto bailout only occurred under Obama (13 points), when TARP came up for a vote most Republicans opposed it (12 points) and that it is not clear that Obama was born in the United States (31 points)."

Money please.
Though i suppose the money should goto the University of Maryland, if you actually keep you word of course.
The whole lie is that Fox News is not a news station. Its entertainment and commentary. The Daily Show is more news than Fox News.
ReplyDeleteYour challenge is a lie.
ReplyDeleteSo who's gonna end up with the gold coin? First post or are you gonna draw everyone's names out of a hat?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fucking joke this blog is!
ReplyDeleteHow about taking all the clips where they show Obama talking about stuff, and then play them IN CONTEXT?
ReplyDeleteSo, when is the winner going to be announced? Because there are several winning submissions in here.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget when they reported that "millions" attended the Glenn Beck rally. That was flat-out false, and was said just to attract more people to their deadbeat network. The total was down in the ten thousands.
ReplyDeleteYour bet is very dangerous. All networks lie at one point or another. Fox News just does it daily after brushin' their teeth and eatin' their breakfast cereal. XD
faggotsss pay up the 1.4k faggotsss

Fox News has admitted they have lied enough times, here they are apologising for lying about a Joe Biden quote,

ReplyDeleteDo you think their lies don't matter?
This reveals quite a bit.
FOX NEWS LIES!

ReplyDeleteAre you going to pay up?
Ok Doug, there are plenty of clips here that seem to demonstrate Fox News lies, so now if you want to ever have any credibility again you're going to have to either pay up or go through each submission and explain why it doesn't show Fox News is lying.
ReplyDeleteYour challenge is well thought out for sure but I find one rule very problematic. "It has to be from a reporter not a commentator" This is exactly how Fox operates. If Fox wants to perpetuate an untruth it gets a commentator to do it, see Glen Beck. Have you ever heard the term plausible deniability well Fox is pretty well versed in it. Pawning lies off on commentators may not be lying but it is unethical, there are numerous studies which show that people disconnect messages they hear from their source, so while they may hear a lie from a commentator they recall it in their mind as being from a more credible source, why do you think so many people think Obama is a muslim. So while your challenge is a very clever one, it does little to disprove that Fox perpetuates untruths in the publics general understanding of politics.
ReplyDeleteWHEN ARE YOU GOING TO PAY?????
ReplyDeletePlenty of evidence provided, now will you pay up?

ReplyDeleteUm. Fox itself admits it lies. In fact, they fought in court to prove it could be legal.
Gold please.
I'm not a huge fan of Fox, but it seems like some people are kind of stooping down by retorting this challenge with a "Fox is stupid" and "Fox is fake". I was hoping to see some facts against what I do believe to be a slanted news outlet (just like every other news outlet I've observed) but all I've seen is the same slander people complain about coming from the opposite end of the spectrum. Come on, people, you're better than this.
ReplyDeleteATTENTION DOUG ROSS FANS: The people posting Fox's lies here don't hate you. In fact, there are a lot of genuine conservatives who know that this blog post is bullshit as well. Those people- and most of us on the left- don't harbor any ill will towards you, just towards the organizations that are preying on you and your families. Organizations like Fox News.
ReplyDeleteDoug Ross, you're a fucking moron, there's plenty of irrefutable evidence here, court cases and Fox's own admittance!
ReplyDeleteCough up the coin to someone moron.

In an April 2009, the Fox News show America's Newsroom made the claim that Obama's $3.6 trillion budget is 4x bigger than Bush's costliest plan. This isn't true at all. Bush's budgets for 2009 and 2008 were $3.1 and $2.9 trillion respectively. Keep in mind, Fox News lives in an age where even a second grader could access this information in about 20 seconds.
ReplyDeleteFOX NEWS.
ReplyDelete(there’s one: It’s not news, it’s “opinion”)
FOX NEWS
ReplyDelete(it’s not about foxes. So that’s 2)
Spontaneous Tea-Party demonstrations. They were reported as a whole series of lies.
ReplyDeleteYou’re going to need many truckloads of those Krugerrands.
ReplyDeleteOr is your word no more reliable than Fox’s?
So, here's how this little gold-for-lies thing has progressed.
ReplyDelete1. Idiot blogger challenges people to find lies perpetrated by Fox News.
2. Idiot blogger's idiot fans spew uneducated, asinine bullshit in support of this endeavor, all the while disparaging an invisible liberal enemy.
3. The Internet shows up, providing link after link of lies perpetrated by Fox News, thereby satisfying aforementioned idiot blogger's request.
4. Idiot fans collectively vacate the premises.
Now, here we are, on the raggedy edge. Despite all the name-calling, all the illogical babblings, all the empty arguments, as soon as the intelligent discourse shows up, those towing the Fox News line are nowhere to be found.
Am I surprised? Nope.
Fox Reporters Gretchen Carlson and Steve Doocy lie about Obama being a part of a madrasah and being a muslim...cnn and abc refute the claim and provide evidence of this not being true:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouKJixL--ms#t=1m45s
Ok, here is a blatant lie told by a Fox News reporter.
ReplyDeleteThe first time I ever watched Fox News, Bill O'Riley's show was on. It was a show from June 1, 2005 I believe. The topic of the show was gay marriage. I distinctly remember Bill saying that since the legalisation of gay marriage in Sweden, the the institution of marriage had "collapsed".
First, gay marriage was not legal in Sweden at the time (instead, gay people could enter into "partnerships", which gave them the same rights as married couples).
Second, at that time, there had been no decline in the marriage/divorce rates in Sweden which could be linked to gays being allowed to enter into partnerships.
What Bill O'Riley said was completely made up, with no factual basis whatsoever.
See transcript at: http://mediamatters.org/research/200506030007
Oh, but since the blogger here has decided that two people must utter the same lie for it to actually count, I guess this doesn't matter, right? But if anyone can find another Fox "reporter" who has lied about the same thing, please go ahead and collect the $1,400.
Hey, guys -- it's me, Doug Ross.
ReplyDeleteCouple of notes.
The Krugerrand is real and I can provide a photo later if anyone cares. It's still waiting to be claimed.
The ground rules are simple. I provided an example of how to submit a winning entry (and a detailed description on the article itself). It's really not that hard. Do a "find" in your browser on the word "example" and you can see how to post a legitimate example of a Fox News lie.
To give you some real examples of lies: in 2004, the New York Times published a whole series of bogus stores about Al Qaqaa right before the election. They were published, it would appear, to damage Bush's reelection campaign. Mysteriously, all mention of Al Qaqaa ceased once Bush won the election.
Similar story with the John McCain lobbyist affair in 2008, which was (it would appear) a flat-out fabrication.
So far, the "big winners" we have are:
1. The wrong stock footage of a health care protest was used by Fox (perhaps to mislead about the size of the crowd, but perhaps it was an intern's mistake). Certainly not a lie, which must be a statement of fact. And certainly not a "lie" like the New York Times' Al Qaqaa or a John McCain lobbyist affair.
2. A local Fox broadcaster somewhere had an appeals case heard and adjudicated about something... But local Fox affiliate != Fox News Channel. FNC doesn't control every local broadcaster's reporting -- same it true of CBS, ABC, and NBC.
3. Someone's notes (Cameron?) were inadvertently included on the FNC website and then corrected. That's happened on CNN (when a reporter voiced over fake stories), but that was a stupid attempt at a joke. Not a disinformation campaign.
Where is a REAL LIE by FNC... a real disinformation campaign... like the New York Times' Al Qaqaa fabrication?
Just one lie. In the correct format.
Really, guys. It's 'Faux News', I thought. Is it that hard?
###
Now, I haven't reviewed every "submission" because just linking to MediaMatters doesn't count. Simply provide the lie in the correct format and *voila*, you're good to go.
Hey Doug, the post just before your last one mentions quite a big falsehood. Care to respond?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't even bother trying. You're just going to refute any actual evidence out there to save face (and your $1400). Pretty typical for a right wing blogger, actually. Forget it people, this joker's never going to give up his gold.
ReplyDeleteDoug, could you please state the NY times disinformation campaign in the correct format?
ReplyDeleteOh Doug, you are too predictable. After looking at the insurmountable evidence supporting FOX's lies, you claim they don't suit your definition of a lie. Well, the evidence supports my definition of "lie" and most other posters on here (excluding your sheeple). The manipulation of footage on the Tea Party debates, for example, is untruthful editing intending to deceive viewers into believing the movement was larger than it was in reality. How is this not a lie? Merely because you claim it isn't? Keep your gold, which is probably sponsored by Glenn Beck's Goldline. By the way, here's a few definitions of lies, maybe you need to brush up: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/lie

ReplyDelete@Anon 12:58
ReplyDeleteSo you're really telling me that no one can document a lie -- a made-up news story -- by FNC? Really?
To paraphrase someone else at Reddit:
I good example of a lie is: "I did not have sexual relations with that woman",
Or Barack Obama in 2003, talking to the AFL/CIO:“I happen to be a proponent of single-payer universal healthcare coverage. That’s what I’d like to see.”In January, 2008, Obama claimed in a nationally televised debate:”I never said that we should try to go ahead and get single-payer.”
or
“Meet the Press,” 01/22/2006 Russert: “When we talked back in November of ‘04 after your election, I said, ‘There’s been enormous speculation about your political future. Will you serve your six-year term as United States senator from Illinois?’”Obama: “I will serve out my full six-year term. You know, Tim, if you get asked enough, sooner or later you get weary and you start looking for new ways of saying things. But my thinking has not changed.”Russert: “So you will not run for president or vice president in 2008?”Obama: “I will not.”
You know... a real lie.
Not an intern screwing up stock footage... or an elaborate SorosMatters cut-and-paste to claim someone said something they didn't...
Faux news.
Where is it?
Here is my contribution:
ReplyDeleteConsidering the news story concerning Kevin Jennings two reporters said the boy in question was under the legal age of consent and thus this should merit the statutory rape charges. This was factually inaccurate.

Doug, I will not consider your examples unless you present them in the format that you demand for your competition.
ReplyDeleteIf it is very easy to comply to your requested format, it must be easy for you to present your examples of lies correctly.
@Anonymous 1:15, Gregory right above you has the correct format. It took roughly 150 or so comments to get one correctly formatted 'lie'.
ReplyDeleteGregory, the only problem with your assertion is that The Atlantic reports that Fox News simply relayed what Jennings himself stated during a speech. Jenning stated during his speech that the boy was 15, which was under the age of consent.
I find MediaMatters does this a great deal -- position FNC as having lied when, in fact, their reporters are simply relaying a known statement or fact (e.g., Shirley Sherrod was not reported by Fox until after the White House had commented).
Good try, however, Gregory. You obviously bothered to actually read the post.
Jesus you're a tossbag.
ReplyDeleteJust cough up the money or admit you never intended to. And then chop your penis off.
this blog got served
ReplyDeleteWait, so now it's not a lie of someone else other than FOX said it?
ReplyDeleteSo now, instead of lying, they're just terrible journalists?
Good god man, your straw house is crashing down.
You wrote: To give you some real examples of lies: in 2004, the New York Times published a whole series of bogus stores about Al Qaqaa right before the election. They were published, it would appear, to damage Bush's reelection campaign. Mysteriously, all mention of Al Qaqaa ceased once Bush won the election.
ReplyDeleteWhere is a REAL LIE by FNC... a real disinformation campaign... like the New York Times' Al Qaqaa fabrication?
Given the above, isn't the whole "Ground Zero mosque" controversy a real Fox News disinformation campaign?
Before the 2010 midterms, Fox News whipped up a frenzy over this so called issue. And you could argue they did it solely to damage Democrats during the 2010 midterms.
Eventually, all mention of the "ground zero mosque" disappeared (http://news.google.com/archivesearch?q=%22park51%22+OR+%22ground+zero+mosque%22+%22fox+news%22&num=20&scoring=t&hl=en&sa=N&sugg=d&as_ldate=2010/08&as_hdate=2010/12&lnav=hist3), even though nothing had changed..
Doug, you might think that editing in footage from the wrong Tea Party rally was an "interns mistake." Let me assure you as someone that works in the news business (and that is all it fucking is... a business), that things like this don't just happen. For an intern to make this mistake he or she would have had to go back, locate the footage in the archives and then edit it in. Also, interns don't edit packages that go on air at places as big as Fox News. When packages are being edited, the footage comes from a tape used specifically to film that event. Maybe editors were handed the wrong tape? No. That tape would have been buried amongst other tapes from months before, not just ACCIDENTALLY handed to the editors. Maybe purposely, but not accidentally. Get a damn clue.
ReplyDeletewow, hows that proofy thing working out for ya? d-bag. hood dad says suck it

If you google "obama gay marriage views" here are the top three links, all of which confirm that the guy is all over the map on this issue.

So exactly where is the lie in all of those shifting positions?
Here's the problem with this kind of challenge. FOX is an organization. Organizations are not people.
ReplyDeleteFor something to be a lie, it must be both factually untrue, and something the speaker knew to be untrue. But as soon as examples are given, then there is an immediate counter-assertion that the person who lied is not the organization, or they made an innocent mistake, etc.
Further, of course, who is the judge of such an assertion? If it is the person who made the challenge, this is all just meaningless absurdity. Getting someone so invested in their own worldview that they would pretend to risk anything of value to validate it, means that they will certainly never actually admit they are wrong. They'll just continue to use sophistry to pretend as if some new arbitrary threshold was not reached.
This rather famously was done by T. Boone Pickens, who put out a supposed $1 million reward if what the Swift Boat veterans against John Kerry could have been proven to have lied. After a group of different veterans sent him a registered letter, documenting 10 such misstatements that any reasonable person would have known was untrue, he reneged on his offer, pretending that it only covered opinion ads the SBV ran. This, of course, was a second lie, which could have been the basis of an unprofitable lawsuit, but it wasn't.
Opinion is not a "lie". It is opinion. An assertion like "Sarah Palin has more intelligence in her little pinky than the entire global community of climatologists" may be devoutly believed by some, but impossible to "disprove" without some mutually agreed upon measure. And when there is no measure, or neutral third party to apply it, then the challenge is meaningless.
In other words, the only person who is actually lying in these exercises is the person who makes the original statement. "Doug" has absolutely no intention of giving up his gold coin, ever. The fact that he is engaging in a swift moving of the goalposts shows that.
I'm not going to attack him as a "liar" as a general term, simply because everyone lies sometime during their lifetime. However it is clear that in this context, Doug has lied. And in this thread he shows a clear record of dishonesty, which is unfortunately typical behavior for emotional reasoners.
Of course he won't admit it, but that's also par for the course. Reward or not, it's clear that he will never admit that he was proven wrong by people he disagrees with politically.
Guys, all I am looking for is a serious LIE by Fox News Channel.
ReplyDeleteAn information warfare campaign, if you will, to mislead the public.
Faux news.
A stock shot of a tea party rally, or a snippet of a conversation that could be interpreted three ways from Sunday (like @AnnaLovesBooks' Prop 8) is not it.
For a real example, see: "What ever happened to The Most Important Story on Earth?"
That's a big-time lie, but a big-time news organization.
Where's the Fox equivalent of that, or the John McCain "affair" with a lobbyist, etc.?
@directorblue sry for calling you a name. :) Vitriol = bad.
ReplyDeleteI tried to pick a super easy one, since the complex ones often inject opinion and the biggest Fox liars are those non-news opinion shows, like Beck and O'Reilly. Guess I missed the target.
First, though irrelevant, the "nuanced stance". Obama opposes gay marriage, but also believes it's a state issue and said so. He has not changed his stance, which isn't all that nuanced.
The lie is not Obama's stance. It is what Fox did with the quotes from the interview that was a lie.
- Obama said he didn't mind California allowing same-sex marriage. He did not mind the BAN of Prop 8.
- Fox News said that Obama said he didn't mind Prop 8.
A simple, intentional, edit and they made him appear to say the exact opposite of what he said. And I'd say "oops, bad edit!" except James Rosen clearly SPEAKS the Fox News lie, as does Kimberly Schwandt, in print: "The White House Thursday applauded the overturning of Prop 8, but as a candidate, Obama said he didn't have a problem with it." No, Kimmy, he did not say that.
MSNBC leans, but Fox outright lies. The hardest part about proving the Fox News lies is just the amount of time it takes to look into all of them. Someday, I'm going to dismantle a solid Fox News hour. I'll probably end up with six minutes of truth. If I include commercials. Less if I pick an hour of Beck.
On a serious note, if you ever decide that someone's proved that Fox News lied, ever, about anything, but can't decide who to give it to and still want to make good - why don't you donate that money to the National Association of Free Clinics (freeclinics.us), a group that Olbermann supports, his viewers have given a lot to and certainly a cause that can't be found objectionable by anyone sane.
Doug, if you want to claim that the NY times lied, you have to do so according to your own standards. So, where are the two separate reporters? and where is the fox news story that refutes the lie.
ReplyDeleteIf your demands for proving a lie are reasonable and your assumption about the NY times lying is correct, than it must be very easy for you to prove that.
As long as you cannot prove your claims according to your own standards, you cannot claim that there any lies present in the reporting of any news corporation

ReplyDeleteAnnaLovesBooks was actually one of a handful of people who actually read the instructions and therefore is to be congratulated.
But the fact that LGBT sites and the straight media were all confused about Obama's "shifting" positions (their words, not mine) on gay marriage makes it difficult to say.
When I read the reference article, Obama's reply was cryptic -- and I suspect it was intentional.
In the post you just put up you said,
ReplyDeleteNext time, try one of Fox' big lies. Like this one. Oops. That was The New York Times. My bad
but you have address the post referring to this.
Doug, if you want to claim that the NY times lied, you have to do so according to your own standards. So, where are the two separate reporters? and where is the fox news story that refutes the lie.

In all honesty you seem to be having an argument with yourself. When someone (like annalovesbooks) proves you wrong you either delete the post or either stop responding, if this $1,400 is to be taken in any way with a shred of credibility then the winner should not be decided by the person giving it away but a 3rd party that will be unbiased and only go on facts. Until that happens you are simply trolling for posts
Dudes, I have deleted exactly ZERO comments from this thread. None.

-- Regarding the NYT, every paper in America reported that story, genius. Google "al qaqaa". It was repeated by everyone.
-- Regarding Obama's schooling in Indonesia, there are numerous conflicting reports, including this from The Australian:
AS a schoolboy in Jakarta, Barack Obama attended Muslim prayer sessions with his classmates against the wishes of his mother.
The US President's former grade three teacher said that Mr Obama - who was known as "Barry" when he attended the Menteng One school in Jakarta - studied the Koran and went to classes on Islam, despite the objections of Ann Dunham, a Catholic.
The teacher's recollections will add to speculation about Mr Obama's links to Islam during his much-anticipated visit to Indonesia
There are innumerable perfectly valid examples above, Fox ‘News’ is widely documented as deliberately misrepresenting, mis-labelling, misleading and downright lying. Hell, they fought a court case in Florida for their legal right to lie in the news.
ReplyDeleteBut, whatever anyone says, you’re going to believe what you believe, you aren’t going to pay, and at the end you’ll say nobody ‘met’ your ‘criteria.’

Doug,
ReplyDeletePutting the challenge aside for a moment, can we at least agree that Fox News is misleading?
"[The WPO] survey of American voters that shows that Fox News viewers are significantly more misinformed than consumers of news from other sources."
I'm disappointed that your logic for arguing that a news organization "kicks ass" is solely that it never lies. Isn't there something to be said about a news organization that frequently misinforms it's audience?
Regarding my submission, Doug says: "the fact that LGBT sites and the straight media were all confused about Obama's "shifting" positions (their words, not mine) on gay marriage makes it difficult to say."
ReplyDeleteI get it. You're looking at Obama - I'm talking about Fox News. As I said, Obama's stance is irrelevant.
In the Tapper interview, Obama says the he isn't bothered by what California is doing (allowing same-sex couples to marry). That is unambiguous. Clear. One word, firm answer, no waffling, no bull. Does it bother you? NO.
But watch the Fox News clip. Maybe it's too long - just watch from 1:15 to 1:33, where they MIS-USE the clip. http://video.foxnews.com/v/4303703/obama-disagrees-with-himself-on-gay-marriage
