John Kerry: the Men and Women of our Armed Forces are Idiots

You can't even make this stuff up. The following is an actual transcript of a speech given by John Kerry (hat tip: RWN).

You know, education, if you make the most of it...

...if you study hard and you do your homework...

...and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well...

If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.

But, remember, he supports the troops.

George Soros was only following orders

Sweetness & Light and Thomas Lifson documented the chilling 60 Minutes interview with financier George Soros. Soros -- who donated around $25 million to various efforts to defeat President Bush in 2004 -- survived the Holocaust as a 14-year old. He did so using the only means available: forged papers, which attested that he was the Christian godson of a government official.

While hundreds of thousands of Hungarian Jews were being shipped off to death camps, Soros assisted his faux godfather with official duties, including confiscating property from the Jews.

The 60 Minutes interview went something like this (and this segment is based upon the transcript provided by Sweetness & Light ).

And you watched lots of people get shipped off to the death camps.

Right. I was 14 years old. And I would say that that's when my character was made...

...My understanding is that you went out with this protector of yours who swore that you were his adopted godson.

Yes. Yes.

Went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from the Jews.

Yes. That’s right. Yes.

I mean, that’s—that sounds like an experience that would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for many, many years. Was it difficult?

Not-not at all. Not at all. Maybe as a child you don’t - you don’t see the connection. But it created no-no problem at all.

No feeling of guilt?

No.

For example that, ‘I’m Jewish and here I am, watching these people go. I could just as easily be there. I should be there.’ None of that?

Well, of course I c-I could be on the other side or I could be the one from whom the thing is being taken away. But there was no sense that I shouldn’t be there, because that was-well, actually, in a funny way, it’s just like in markets- that if I weren’t there- of course, I wasn’t doing it, but somebody else would-would-would be taking it away anyhow. And it was the-whether I was there or not, I was only a spectator, the property was being taken away. So the-I had no role in taking away that property. So I had no sense of guilt.

* * *

No sense of guilt? Soros could have said, "I was just following orders." It probably would have sounded better.

And Soros' contributions to Democrats are of such an unimaginable scale, it would be hard to argue that he is not one of their key thought leaders: in gun control, the war on terror, etc.

* * *

What?

You feel guilty taking money from Soros?

What, that $23 million?

No feeling of guilt, taking Soros' money in an ultimately disastrous attempt to elect John Kerry?

No. Plus, there's plenty of precedent.

Precedent?

Well, those Chinese groups that funneled illegal cash to the DNC in the 90's! And then, coincidentally of course, Bill Clinton approved the transfer of satellite-launch technology to China, which probably improved the accuracy of their ICBMs. C'mon, that was a lot worse than taking money from Soros!

Uhm, yeah, that's pretty bad.

And what about the Clintons renting out the White House's Lincoln Bedroom to 800 donors like it was a Motel Six? You've got to admit, that was pretty cheesy, too.

Yes. Yes, I do.

HOWARD!!! You know those topics are off limits!! Cut the crap now, or I'm going to beat you like a rented mule!

Oops. Sorry. Can we erase that part of the transcript?

Hehe. Of course, we're 60 Minutes! You know our unspoken subtitle - This week in the DNC!

But, honestly, Howard, don't you feel the least bit guilty about taking money from Soros? Off the record, that is?

Give me a break, Kroft, we're Democrats!

The worst negative campaign commercial yet

It's really getting sleazy out there. I turned on the TV last night to watch a little football and had to suffer through another series of negative campaign ads. One stuck out as the most negative ad I've seen yet:

Rumor has it that Ted Mackilacker killed a man in 1983.

Others wonder whether Mackilacker sold U.S. secrets to the Soviets when he "toured" Russia in 2002.

This much is clear: he very well could have employed child slave labor in China to build his so-called "orthodontic retainer cases."

And can a man whose messy divorce proceedings are in the public record really be trusted?

And why did Mackilacker get divorced in the first place? Was he cheating on his wife, which seems to be the word on the street?

Is Ted Mackilacker a divorced murderer, spy, labor-law violator, and philanderer?

We're not sure. But ask yourself on election day whether you want to vote for someone named Ted Mackilacker.

Vote Lumpkin for Dacron Township's Associate Auditor.

I'm Stan Lumpkin and I approved this message.

The Dixie Chicks Archipelago

It's an awful tale of censorship. You probably haven't heard, but the Dixie Chicks have a new movie out. For the most part, word of the movie has been suppressed, but a few key details have managed to leak out:

The Chicks barely snuck their movie, Shut up and Sing, into theaters yesterday.

With its anti-GOP message and timing, it has received scant attention from the mainstream media.

Because they were blacklisted, the Chicks secretly appeared on MSNBC (Chris Matthews' Hardball), ABC's Nightline, CNN (Larry King Live), and Oprah.

Oh, and I forgot their new CD was recently released with zero fanfare...

...along with a set of new posters, framed CDs and other memorabilia, which are extremely difficult to locate in stores or online.

Oddly, sales of their last concert DVD have picked up.

Despite this obvious suppression, some attention has been gained because of controversial* refusals to air commercials for the movie.
* Controversies may be smaller than they actually appear

Yes, you'd be hard-pressed to figure out that the Dixie Chicks have a new movie out.

This is truly an appalling and tragic story of censorship.

It reminds me of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn having to smuggle The Gulag Archipelago out of the Soviet Union after serving ten years in a concentration camp.

The Einstein of the political age: Keith Olbermann

That would be Fred Einstein -- no relation to Albert -- who works third shift at the Speedway on the corner. Here's a capsule summary of Olbie's most recent video excretion.

Welcome to PMSBC. I'm Keith Olbermann and this is... ... ... .... My Word.

We've seen over lo these many decades the disintegration of any sense of dignity on the part of the Republican party.

The Rethuglicans have the unmitigated gall, the undecanted audacity to use fear to gain votes.

The GOPpers continually tell us that a terrorist attack is likely when my advisers indicate such an attack has virtually no chance of success.

Isn't that right, advisers?

Apologies, they seem to be indisposed.

Simply put, nothing could be further from the truth. There is literally a zero-point-zero percent chance of a terrorist attack anytime within the next three or four decades.

After which time, I'll be dead, so any subsequent attacks won't matter.

Read my lips: no terror attacks. Anytime. Anywhere.

So, bottom line, these crazed chimps -- America's latest incarnation of the Nazi party, aided and abetted by the troglodyte propagandists at Fox -- employ all fear, all the time to advance their agenda. The drumbeat of fear, fear, fear is incessant and annoying.

In addition, the Rethuglicans will cut your social security, Grandma.

They will eliminate school lunches, making our children go hungry.

They are certain to gut Medicare, leaving old people helpless in the street, their bodies wracked and broken by the weight of medical bills they can't pay.

Grandma will be eating dogfood.

The budget will be balanced on the backs of the poor.

Further devastation of the welfare program -- like the ill-fated Welfare Reform Act of 1996, only worse -- is certain to harm the least able.

Rethuglicans will give away all our money to the rich.

And leave a catastrophically damaged environment in their wake.

Put simply, Rethuglicans are certain to destroy Social Security and Medicare, kick the poor and elderly to the curb, and utterly devastate the environment, leaving the Earth a shattered, hollow husk that can no longer support life of any kind.

Using fear won't work this time, Rethuglicans!

I'm Keith Olbermann, saying good night and good luck, America. Except for any crazed chimp Rethuglicans who channel-surfed here accidentally on the way to Fox News.
