The weekend raid that resulted in the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was named after Kayla Mueller, an American aid worker killed in Syria in 2015 while being held captive by the sadistic ISIS leader. During his Sunday morning announcement from the White House, President Trump twice invoked Mueller’s name in addition to the names of other Americans murdered under the Islamic State’s ongoing reign of terror. According to reports from some of his escaped victims, Baghdadi took Mueller as his secret bride in 2013. “We were told Kayla was tortured, that she was the property of al-Baghdadi,” her parents said in an August 2015 interview.

It's a news flash from 2017, but still.

Federal law makes it a crime to "knowingly and willfully" give "materially" false statements to Congress, even if unsworn -- which is not to be confused with the more general crime of perjury for lying under oath... The consequences for either crime are serious: one can face up to five years in prison.

This, of course, assumes that a regular American citizen has equal protection under the law when compared to, say, a member of Congress. Like Adam Schiff, who read a fictional transcript into the Congressional Record because Orange Man Orange.

BREAKING: Inspector General says FISA Abuse Report Will Be "Lengthy" and Have "Few Redactions"

The Justice Department inspector general’s report on possible FBI abuse of the foreign surveillance process is “lengthy,” and is likely to be made public with “few” redactions, the inspector general told lawmakers Thursday, according to a letter obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Michael Horowitz, the inspector general, informed Republicans and Democrats on four congressional committees with a status update on the report, which will detail an investigation into whether the FBI complied with laws and policies in applications for Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants against Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.
