Despite the profound disruptions we've faced since Covid, it's surprising that few discuss the root cause. The pandemic's staggering societal impact ranges from a commercial real estate implosion to major disruptions in the automotive industry.
The financial impact of the pandemic is estimated at $14 trillion in the U.S. alone. The following are 10 key facts you should know about Covid-19:
1. Funding Confirmation: The U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) has admitted to funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) through grants to the nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance. This admission contradicts previous denials by officials, including Dr. Anthony Fauci.
2. Nature of Research: The research involved modifying bat coronaviruses to study their potential to infect humans, specifically testing if spike proteins could bind to human ACE2 receptors in a mouse model.
3. Gain-of-Function Debate: There has been significant debate over whether this research qualifies as "gain-of-function". While some officials assert it does not meet the strict definition, others, including scientists and lawmakers, argue it does.
4. Cover-up Allegations: Allegations suggest that U.S. officials, including from NIH and NIAID, attempted to downplay or hide the nature of this research. This includes claims of using a "secret back channel" to manage information about the funding.
5. Public Denials: Dr. Anthony Fauci and others publicly denied funding gain-of-function research at WIV, which has been contradicted by later admissions and documents. This has led to accusations of misleading Congress.
6. EcoHealth Alliance's Role: EcoHealth Alliance, led by Peter Daszak, was central in facilitating this research with U.S. funds. They've been accused of not adequately reporting findings and violating grant terms, leading to funding suspensions.
7. Congressional Scrutiny: Congressional hearings and investigations have focused on these activities, with significant pushback from Republicans like Senators Rand Paul and Roger Marshall, who have strongly challenged Fauci's statements.
8. NIH Oversight Issues: There have been many criticisms of NIH's oversight procedures, with claims that the agency relied too heavily on assurances from EcoHealth Alliance without sufficient verification.
9. Legal and Ethical Concerns: The involvement in such research has raised ethical and legal questions, prompting calls for moratoriums on similar research and for investigations into the origins of the COVID-19 virus.
10. Political Consequences: The controversy has (rightfully, in my opinion) affected public trust in science and government, and highlights the need for clearer policies - and transparency - around funding potential bioweapons.
A serious investigation is warranted.
Such a resolution would bring: (a) accountability to those behind the creation and coverup of this bioweapon; and (b) help prevent a repeat by mandating transparency and guardrails.
Because the next outbreak could be far worse.

Millions died. Accountability MUST involve more than investigations and hand-wringing.
Let me understand this, an agency of the USG, funded an enemy government's biowarfare laboratory to conduct experiments to produce a more contagious and virulent strain of a disease for "peaceful purposes?" Now can I sell you a bridge in Brooklyn? All involved are traitors and the lack of oversight argues that this is deliberate and a vast, orchestrated conspiracy. Can anyone believe this is the work of a few rogue individuals?
Maybe some lucky regular citizen will get justice for the world against these murderers. I'm not into vengeance, what these folks did calls for wrath. Another question, why are democrats defending these and others like gates and bezos who have started giving the vaxx to our food supply?
looks like a job for the claims adjuster.
