America will take to the skies with swarms of flying robots, President declares

As a subscriber bonus, I'm writing the New York Times and Washington Post articles about Trump's drone order before they can...

In what can only be described as the aviation equivalent of armageddon, President Trump signed an executive order Wednesday unleashing an armada of buzzing drones across America's pristine skies.

"It's time we filled our airspace with even more unidentified flying objects," declared the administration in what critics are calling "The Great Drone Liberation of 2025." The order, titled with characteristic subtlety "UNLEASHING AMERICAN DRONE DOMINANCE," aims to transform the country into a scene straight out of a sci-fi movie where everything from your pizza to your wife boyfriend's birthday present will soon be delivered by what is essentially a flying blender with cameras.

The White House emphasized that drones will create "high-skilled jobs," presumably for people who enjoy spending their days watching tiny aircraft crash into power lines. Emerging technologies like electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft promise to "modernize methods" for everything from cargo delivery to passenger transport.

"The time has come to accelerate testing and to enable routine drone operations," the order states with all the caution of someone saying "hold my beer" before attempting a backflip. The administration insists this rapid expansion of autonomous flying machines is vital to "reducing reliance on foreign sources," because if there's one thing Americans hate more than being buzzed by drones while sunbathing, it's being buzzed by foreign drones while sunbathing.

The FAA has been instructed to issue a proposed rule enabling "Beyond Visual Line of Sight operations" within 30 days, which is government speak for "we're going to let these things fly where you can't see them." This should pair nicely with the administration's other initiative to "deploy artificial intelligence tools" to expedite drone approvals, combining two technologies that definitely won't malfunction simultaneously in any concerning way.

Weirdly, ex-Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg appeared particularly excited about the new eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, telling reporters, "Americans have been trapped in two-dimensional transportation for too long. It's time we embrace the third dimension by filling it with thousands of rapidly vibrating phallus-shaped eVTOLs."

Military applications weren't forgotten either. The Department of Defense has been instructed to "identify programs that would be more cost efficient or lethal if replaced by UAS," because apparently some Pentagon official watched "Terminator" and thought, "now THAT'S efficiency!"

UPDATE: A flock of geese have filed an emergency injunction request with Judge James Boasberg of the DC Court.

Personal note: I am in favor of this Executive Order for national security and other reasons. This is a sarcastic take on how legacy media will cover the order. Follow me on X @directorblue and Substack @directorblue

Legendary Great Ivan Koloff: The State of Affairs In Washington

An interview with Ivan Koloff, Legendary Great

What do you think defines the modern or current era of American politics?

Dysfunctional.

In what ways?

Two ways:
(a) politics no longer rewards accomplishments, getting things doesn't matter any longer.
(b) politics incentivizes bad behavior; criticizing, obstructing, etc. - both parties - seem to matter more than governing.

What was the inflection point for this modern era?

I think it Started with Bush 43. I observed that he was perceived by those on the left as 'evil'.
Think WMD in Iraq. There seemed to be a trend of identifying the president as 'evil'.
An evil enemy justifies any action - lying and personal attacks at a minimum.

Welp, Google burning my books again.

By "books", I mean blog posts. Back in the days when Google's motto was Don't be evil -- my youthful days of 2003 -- I signed on to the once-independent Blogger platform.

Doug Ross @ Journal has been hosted on the platform since 2003 or thereabouts.

But within the last 48 hours, Google/Blogger has been on a purge of my content -- either un-publishing my posts or simply putting them behind a click-wall.

Why? Oh, there's no porn or racism or misogyny or other malevolent content. Just stuff that perturbs Marxists and Democrats, but I repeat myself.

Click the image for a real example.

I mean if Google simply wants me to move everything to my Substack, they can just ask.

INFOGRAPHIC: George Carlin Shreds the Climatards (Which Is The Term They Prefer, I hear)

Sheer genius from the late George Carlin, circa 1994.

You got people like this around you? Country is full of them now! People walking around all day long, every minute of the day — worried about EVERYTHING! Worried about the air, worried about the water, worried about the soil. Worried about insecticides, pesticides, food additives, carcinogens; worried about radon gas; worried about asbestos. Worried about saving endangered species.

Let me tell you about endangered species, all right? Saving endangered species is just one more arrogant attempt by humans to control Nature! It's arrogant meddling! It's what got us into trouble in the first place! Doesn't anybody understand that? Interfering with Nature! Over 90 percent.. over... way over 90 percent of all the species that have ever lived — EVER LIVED — on this planet are gone. Whissshht! They are extinct!

Crowd-sourcing My (Blog) Hygiene

My latest brainstorm: having noticed that several of the blogs in the various lists at right are defunct, I was wondering whether my seven regular readers would assist me in a cleanup. Questions:

1. Which blogs should be removed?
2. Which blogs should be added?
3. Other suggestions for the sidebar?

Please let me know in the comments.

And thank you for your assistance. The reader with the most helpful suggestion will receive either a 2015 Corvette Stingray or a $5 off coupon for an oil change at Valu-Lube (my choice).

Some Holiday Website News...

I hope you and your families had a wonderful and blessed Christmas. First off, I simply want to say thank you to each and every reader for visiting our sites. Related to our little family of websites:

  • Posting will be sporadic for a few days. I am in the free state of Florida enjoying some decompression time on the beach.
  • I do have one important update for you related to our amazing news aggregator website, BadBlue.com
    • The old, weird link to BadBlue News (http://badblue.bitnamiapp.com) is fully transitioning over to just BadBlue.com by the end of January.
    • We recommend changing any bookmarks that use the old, weird address to just badblue.com.
    • As for BadBlue Tech news, the new URL will similarly be transitioned to tech.badblue.com. This is our real-time science and technology news site.
Again, many thanks. May you and yours have a wonderful, healthy and fulfilling 2022 and may America continue its rejection of failed Communist "progressive" policies, returning us to our brilliant Constitutional roots.

* For those unfamiliar with BadBlue.com, it is - quite simply - the finest conservative news aggregation site on the planet. Instead of human editors, it uses a collective intelligence algorithm to update news headlines every 20 to 30 minutes. It harnesses social media and other datasets to rank and stack the most popular news stories. Not perfect, but pretty damn good. There is no bias because there are no humans directly involved with curating headlines. Our agenda at BadBlue is simply to deliver the most timely, unbiased and uncensored news. BIFF SPACKLE: I Tried All Three COVID-19 Vaccines At Once, Here Are My Reviews and Ratings

By Biff Spackle, Jr. Veterinary Anesthesiologist

In order to give readers the best overall perspective of the Wuhan Virus vaccine experience, I decided to try all three vaccines on the same day. Of course, this sort of thing is generally frowned upon by medical practictioners. But in the interest of true journalism™, I felt certain that readers of this august journal would welcome a new, bold form of reporting unfamiliar to the likes of Brian Stelter or Jake Tapper. Without further ado:

3rd place: Moderna
  • Packaging: The Moderna vaccine comes with an austere label, featuring black on white lettering with many numbers and letters that detract from the overall opening experience. The label was also applied at a slight angle, indicating its manufacturer favored speed over quality. Impression: Negative.
  • Tasting Notes: Moderna was medium-bodied, with whispers of elderberry and charcoal. The nose held a tiny whiff of suntan lotion accompanied by a complementary, yet distant, scent of old sneakers worn without socks. Impression: Neutral.
  • After Effects: As is widely known, Moderna is one of the new breed of vaccines employing mRNA technology. This may be coincidental, but the day after taking the first shot, I bench pressed a personal record of 335. Impression: Positive.

No Linx For You!

Since we've been posting the Linx pretty much every day since January 9, 2009, it figured we owed our 12 regular readers an update for today's "missing linx".

On Saturday, the extended posse and I traveled to Grand Beach, Michigan to a nice little rental home just a couple of blocks from Lake Michigan. It was our first post-Wuhan getaway, and represented a quick change in venue as our South Carolina plans were nuked when the Isle of Palms went into lockdown.

We hadn't been to Grand Beach before, which sits near the border of Indiana and Michigan. It's a lovely, heavily wooded area, with limited public beaches --- due to high water, erosion, or some combination thereof. But several of the beaches were open.

Sunday and Monday were great beach days. The water was cool and invigorating --- but not frigid, like the 57-degree August water temperatures you'd experience on Cape Cod.

Late Monday afternoon, a weather alert hit one of our phones. A storm called a "derecho", a term I'd never heard before, was headed into Chicago with 100 MPH winds. And it wasn't stopping there. It was headed east, directly onto Grand Beach.

Curiously, the fast-moving storm ripped through the area quickly, but without obvious heavy damage. The Internet and power were both on 30 minutes after the red and orange bands had rolled through.

Then the power suddenly went down. And stayed down.
