Writing at The Wall Street Journal
, Kimberley Strassel observes that if Hillary Clinton fails to achieve the presidency, it will not be because of her opponents. It will be due to a 1966 law called the Freedom of Information Act, which has already revealed her illegal and reckless mishandling of State Department emails
in which classified documents were co-mingled with side deals concerning her family's so-called charity. And the worst disclosures are, in all likelihood, yet to come.
FOIA requires a complete inventory of all documents withheld by the targeted agency along with descriptions of each; this file is called a Vaughn Index and on Monday the State Department reluctantly handed over its version to a federal court.
The email descriptions are stunning:
• An email thread between then-Clinton Chief of Staff Cheryl Mills and a Clinton Foundation board member about the secretary of state’s planned trip to Africa.
• Emails between Ms. Mills and foundation staff discussing “invitations to foreign business executives to attend the annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative.”
• Many undisclosed email thread in which State Department officials talk with Clinton Foundation officials about Bill Clinton speeches and Bill Clinton travel, including to events in North Korea and the Congo.
• At least 14 separate emails threads regarding Benghazi.
