In a speech Thursday on the Senate floor, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, sharply criticized the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015, a budget deal between former House Speaker John Boehner and President Barack Obama.
Cruz said the deal is yet another example of the failure of the “so-called Republican majority” to deliver on their promises to the American people.“Now, if someone is an effective Democratic leader, you would expect them to be able to pass legislation when a majority of Democrats supported it and a majority of Republicans opposed it,” Cruz said. “Indeed, if you’re a partisan Democrat, that would be almost the definition of an effective Democratic leader.”
“Nineteen times in the last ten months this so-called Republican majority has passed legislation, has had a vote succeed where a majority of Democrats supported it and a majority of Republicans opposed it,” Cruz added.

Good Riddance To Johnny Lawnchair: The Fastest Fold On The Potomac
There are few political hacks in Washington more deserving of everlasting ignominy than retiring speaker John Boehner. So here’s a vehement good riddance to the man who has single-handedly destroyed whatever pathetic semblance of fiscal responsibility that remained in Washington.
The so-called bipartisan budget deal he confected as a parting gesture doesn’t even deserve to be called a farce. It’s actually just an extension of Washington’s pathological lying to the American public about the monumental fiscal calamity now brewing.
The chart below shows the patented formula—– employed for the second time since the sequester mechanism was put in place during the debt ceiling crisis of 2011.
It will increase spending by $85 billion in the here and now by busting the FY 2016 and 2017 caps. This new red ink will then, purportedly, be off-set way down the road with gimmicks, imaginary IRS audit revenues and hazy disability benefit reforms which will never materialize. Never.
Indeed, these people are beyond shame.

God, Obama and Post-Constitutional America

The observation that human intent, however well conceived and deftly pursued, is commonly frustrated, does not require the invoking of God. One can, for example, comprehend the frustrating agent as fate, fortune or simply the exigencies of worldly existence.But the founders of our republic considered the particular circumstance of people’s aspirations and intent being frustrated by the heavy hand of government, and in addressing this phenomenon they clearly attached importance to invoking God.
In the Declaration of Independence, they assert, of course, "that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." They further assert that the proper role of government, indeed the raison d'etre of government, is to secure these God-given rights.
All the signers of the Declaration were Christian, but they did not all comprehend God in the same way. Nor were the distinctions simply a reflection of sectarian theological differences. Some, including Thomas Jefferson, the principal author of the Declaration, were sympathetic to Enlightenment-inspired deism, belief in a creator who does not directly intervene in the world but established it with rationally comprehensible natural and moral laws. He was critical, for example, of elements of the Gospels that he believed did not meet the test of reason.
SHOCKER: Boehner, McConnell and Obama package another two-year budget blowout and debt limit increase
John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, and Barack Obama have crafted yet another out-of-order budget deal in secret. Par for the course with this egregious crew, members of Congress and the American public were not consulted.
Their "deal" would increase the debt limit for another two years, adding another trillion dollars to our kids' bill, increase spending by $80 billion, and yields the hilarious promise of "entitlement reform" at some point in the future. That last bit is supposed to make you believe that all of these insane IOUs will be paid for, eh, later.
Last week, the House Republican Study Committee offered a serious plan that was -- you guessed it -- completely ignored by the Beltway Cartel.

Paul Ryan Doesn’t Believe in Borders or National Sovereignty
As the donor class continues to push for a Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) Speakership, conservative activists have renewed their scrutiny of Ryan’s support for a radical Republican policy of open borders. Breitbart News has discovered yet another little-noticed video in which Ryan articulates his commitment to immigration policies that would dissolve America’s sovereignty.
The video, uploaded by the Journal Times, shows Ryan at a July 2013 bilingual Hispanic Listening Session in Racine, Wisconsin. At the meeting, Paul Ryan told a predominantly Hispanic audience that the job of a U.S. lawmaker is to put oneself in the shoes of foreign nationals who want to come to the United States, then work to discover solutions to make their lives better.
The Journal Times notes that the purpose of the meeting was for Ryan to “explai[n] to them his motives” for pushing to enact Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)’s amnesty and mass immigration agenda in the House of Representatives.

Boehner Readies Final Surrender As Debt Ceiling Debacle Looms
It’s campaign season, and that means non-stop media coverage of candidate polls, quips, gaffes, tweets, emails, controversies, lies, and scandals. It all makes for a good soap opera. Unfortunately, it’s almost all irrelevant in the big picture.
The media prefer to focus on the sideshow rather than the 800-pound gorilla in the room: the looming debt crisis. Nothing that comes out of a pundit’s mouth or a Hillary Clinton email will close the $210 trillion long-term fiscal gap the U.S. now faces.
More immediately, Congress faces a likely debt ceiling debacle in the next few weeks.
For those who doubt the GOPe Splitter Strategy actually exists, please answer me one simple question...
Friends of mine -- knowledgeable operators in the Republican hemisphere -- have pooh-poohed the idea of such a conspiracy. To which I respond with a single question:
Why are Lindsey Graham, Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie, Mike Huckabee, John Kasich, George Pataki (Who? Exactly) and other non-entities still pretending to be in the race?
All six candidates are drawing -- in aggregate -- six percent. How can they afford a campaign under these conditions? Simple, they can't. They're being funded by the GOPe.
Problem is: a very large monkey wrench was thrown into the establishment's machinery.
And things will never be the same.
