In Virginia, the GOP pulled the plug on a die-hard gun rights advocate

Well, the results from Tuesday’s high-profile gubernatorial elections are in.

A moderate-to-liberal gun control advocate (Chris Christie) won in New Jersey, while a die-hard pro-gun advocate (Ken Cuccinelli) barely lost in Virginia.

Cuccinelli lost a squeaker (48.0 to 45.5 percent), even though he was outspent 4-1 by his anti-gun Democrat opponent, Terry McAuliffe, who was able to blast $15 million more dollars into the state for advertising.

Gun-grabbing advocate, Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York City, also pumped in more than a million dollars into the race.

So how did the national GOP counter? Well, according to The Washington Times, “The Republican National Committee spent six million dollars less this year than it did in 2009 [for Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell]. Cuccinelli was outspent three to one during most of the campaign and as much as ten to one in the closing days.”

During the last two weeks of the race, the Cuccinelli ad campaign went “dark,” as they were unable to answer the vicious lies and attack ads that were filling the northern Virginia airwaves.

Conservatives in Virginia are furious. Says The Washington Post: “The election loss [in Virginia] reignited anger among conservative Republicans who believe that the party’s moderate wing ... had not backed up their candidate with money or support.”

Indeed, gun owners wonder if the additional $6 million -- that was spent on Bob McDonnell four years ago -- would have helped get an additional three percent of the vote for Cuccinelli.

Congratulations, Virginia!

You just voted for Obamacare, gun control, illegal immigration, forced unionization, and massive tax hikes. Well done!

With all that said, Ken Cuccinelli just proved that the Tea Party, Constitutional Conservative, and Reagan Coalition is still alive and well. Consider what Cuccinelli very nearly accomplished:

He appears to be trailing Terry "Sign Here, Old Man" McAuliffe by less than one stinking percentage point despite:

• Being outspent by a 10-to-1 margin

• A fake "Libertarian" candidate funded by Obama donors

• Being blitzed with outrageous, lying robocalls

• And an RNC that spent next-to-nothing to help

The fake Libertarian drew nearly 7 percent of the vote. Had the story regarding this SOB's true backers broken a week ago (brilliant research job, media drones!), Cuccinelli would've won in a landslide despite the spending disadvantage and a RINO establishment that undermined his efforts from the get-go.

I'm greatly encouraged by these results.

RCP and all of the so-called experts predicted a 7-point margin for Terry "Fund My Green Energy Company" McAuliffe.

Despite all of the sleaze and criminality, Cuccinelli very nearly pulled off an immense upset.

The Tea Party ain't dead, but the RINO establishment may be.

Federal investigations cast huge shadow over Terry McAuliffe on Election Day

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — As Virginians head to the polls Tuesday, a darkening cloud of federal investigations hangs over Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe.

The inspector general at the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission are conducting separate inquiries into actions involving McAuliffe’s GreenTech Automotive company and its use of a federal investor-visa program.

The investigations, which began last spring after Watchdog.org started digging into McAuliffe’s activities, target U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Alejandro Mayorkas and Gulf Coast Funds Management, GreenTech’s fundraising arm.

“Voters should be aware that the two investigations around GreenTech and Gulf Coast may well cripple a McAuliffe administration, as well as the commonwealth’s credibility and ability to move forward,” Virginia state Sen. Tom Garrett told Watchdog last week.

“Literally, from day one, a pall would hang over a McAuliffe administration and over Virginia’s executive branch. Simply put, it would be bad for business,” said Garrett, a Republican and former Louisa County prosecutor.

After, all health care is a "right", don't ya know?

Of course, when the government grants "rights", it must steal the labor of one individual to give to another. And, to do so, it must use compulsion and force.

In Virginia, the Democrat Party has moved from plain old socialized medicine to the next step on the path to tyranny: forcing doctors to see patients.

FYI last night at the Great Falls Grange debate, Democrat delegate candidate Kathleen Murphy said that since many doctors are not accepting medicaid and medicare patients, she advocates making it a legal requirement for those people to be accepted.

She did not recognize that the payments are inadequate to cover the doctors' costs. She also did not recognize there is a shortage of over 45,000 physicians now and that it is forecast to be 90,000 in a few years.

Democrats appear to want to make physicians slaves of the state, but Democrats don't admit they would just drive more doctors out of practice into retirement and other occupations. The Obamacare law and regulations are causing millions of people to lose their health insurance, drop many doctors and hospitals. The HHS internal forecast is 93 million Americans would lose their health insurance due to the Obamacare law and rules about adequacy of insurance.

...I hope physicians rise up and speak out for common sense, protecting quality medical care in the US and giving patients freedom to choose...

Next on the agenda: government will tell doctors where they can live and practice.

GERAGHTY: McAuliffe vs. Cuccinelli is a dry run for Hillary 2016

Writing at The Morning Jolt, Jim Geraghty raises some excellent points for conservatives to ponder.

Why the Cuccinelli vs. McAuliffe Race Matters to You, Even If You Don't Live in Virginia

First, does anyone want to argue that Ken Cuccinelli–Virginia's attorney general, and the current GOP candidate for governor – is not a conservative?

• Led the legal challenge to Obamacare.
• Defended Arizona's immigration-enforcement statute.
• Filed legal challenges to the EPA's findings on greenhouse gases being a threat to human health and thus an emission they have the authority to regulate.
• Supports right to life from conception until death, supported and pushed several pro-life bills while in the state legislature.
• Endorsed by the NRA.

...So if you're one of those folks who believes that Mitt Romney was a RINO squish, and that Republicans always lose when they nominate RINO squishes, then you really, really, really need Ken Cuccinelli to win this year.

If Ken Cuccinelli – Mr. Conservative Record – loses against a flawed competitor like Terry McAuliffe, in a purple state like Virginia . . . and simultaneously, Governor Hug-Obama-After-a-Hurricane-and-Move-Left wins in a landslide up in New Jersey . . . the message to the rest of the Republican party will be pretty clear. What you fervently believe – conservatives win, moderate squishes lose – will be refuted in the eyes of many Republicans.

Proud conservatives like to believe that their like-minded grassroots voters are, collectively, like a sleeping giant... [but if] the conservative grassroots are indeed a sleeping giant, so far they're hitting the "snooze" button on this race. At least through mid-summer, Cuccinelli's fundraising is pretty "meh"...

Cuccinelli, 44, had $2.7 million in cash as of the end of June, compared with $6 million for McAuliffe, 56, the former national Democratic Party chairman and fundraiser. While McAuliffe had been expected to out-raise Cuccinelli, the Republican is lagging behind where McDonnell was at this point in his 2009 race, when he had $4.9 million in cash on hand.

What, national conservatives, the stakes aren't high enough? You don't feel sufficiently invested in the success of Cuccinelli in November?

Okay, then think of the Terry McAuliffe 2013 campaign as a dress rehearsal for the Hillary Clinton 2016 effort.

Because that's how the McAuliffe team sees themselves ... In fact, McAuliffe and some of his top allies have suggested to big donors and consultants that supporting his campaign is a way to get in on the ground floor of Hillary 2016, several donors and operatives told POLITICO.

Geraghty's right.

We Constitutional conservatives like to think we have far more support for our principles than the RINO establishment has for its non-principles.  We need to prove it when it comes to serious candidates like Cuccinelli, especially when lined up against loathsome, crooked-as-a-corkscrew moonbats like Terry McAuliffe.
