Learning how to still your own alcohol is useful even if you're a teetotaler.

Alcohol can be used as a liquid fuel (it was in fact the first liquid fuel used in Internal Combustion Engines).

It can also be used to sterilize surfaces, wounds, or medical equipment.

Learning how to distill water is also an important survival skill.
