More anti-Obama street art spotted

It started last year and included a sticky note campaign.

I have a strong feeling we'll be seeing a lot more of this over the next few months.

'It's on, cuz we don't have to worry about re-election'

Gee, this doesn't send shivers up my spine:

President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign website has removed several videos that pitched alarmist messages to African-American voters, following reporting by The Daily Caller and the Fox News Channel.

In one video that the campaign yanked from the “African-Americans for Obama” section of its website Tuesday, actress Tatyana Ali seemed to predict that a second Obama term would bring a host of benefits to African-Americans once the president no longer had to concern himself with campaigning.

“What really excites me … is that a U.S. president has only two terms,” a laughing Ali said in the footage that the Obama campaign scrubbed from its website Tuesday. “In the second term, ‘it’s on,’ because we don’t have to worry about re-election.”

...The video series, titled “Leading Women Defined,” focuses on African-American women, including Valerie Jarrett, Obama’s longtime aide and a former Chicago government official. It was produced by Black Entertainment Television and is still available on that that network’s website.

“We’re encouraging people to come out and vote to, as we say, vote like your life depended on it,” BET CEO Debra Lee said in one of the videos...

The BET videos include a raft of black-targeted messaging, including a reminder that Obama has delivered $1 billion dollars to historically black colleges and universities and $3 billion in contracts and loans to African-Americans entrepreneurs...

"In the second term, ‘it’s on,’ because we don’t have to worry about re-election"?

What's on?

Oh. That's right. More race-baiting. More deficit-spending. More unemployment. More class warfare. More trickle-up failure. More crony capitalism. More lawlessness. More socialism.

More "fundamental transformation".

Got it.

Here's the one chart you can show to any liberal propagandist who claims GM paid off its debt to taxpayers

When the president or any other propagandist tries to claim that GM and Chrysler have made the American taxpayer whole, wave this in their face.

In a February 28 speech, President Obama referred to this expenditure of $80 billion as a bet on the American worker, and added: “Now, three years later . . . that bet is paying off, not just paying off for you, it’s paying off for America.” His implication that the bailout is succeeding-that it will not ultimately be a loss for taxpayers-is a constant theme of Democrats.

The [accompanying] chart, drawn from information released by the Treasury, shows the current status of the financial assistance that the automotive industry has received through TARP. Out of the total $80 billion that has been paid out, only $35 billion has been repaid, some $7 billion has been written off, and $37 billion is still outstanding. That is, 9 percent of the original amount has already been lost, and close to half is still in limbo.

The latest Congressional Budget Office report estimates that the total cost of the bailout will end up being $20 billion. The biggest culprit will be GM, since the Treasury has no remaining investment in Chrysler, having sold its shares in July 2011.

The automakers may be profitable now, but only because we are not counting the taxpayer losses against the profits. If the president continues to avoid this simple math, perhaps someone should ask him why he didn’t shower billions on every industry and create millions more jobs.

Repeat:

Close to 10 percent of the "investment" has already been irretrievably lost. And it's questionable we'll ever see the other half of the money.

Good News: Your Tax Dollars Going to Lionize Race-Baiters

I wonder if they have these posters in Hymietown?

‘Take to the streets’: Obama Labor Dept. glorifies Sharpton, Jackson in protest-preaching poster

President Barack Obama’s labor secretary, Hilda Solis, has authorized new posters in elevators throughout the Department of Labor’s Washington, D.C. headquarters building. The posters feature a photo of her marching in protest alongside the Rev. Jesse Jackson and MSNBC television host Rev. Al Sharpton, among others.

The photo depicts Solis acting as an emissary of the Obama administration protesting against Alabama’s strict new law combating illegal immigration. Solis has her arms locked with Sharpton, and Jackson is a few feet away. The poster also carries a message for federal government employees — who are traditionally expected to be apolitical in the performance of their duties.

“Whether we take to the streets or simply do our work with integrity and commitment here at the U.S. Department of Labor,” the poster reads, above Solis’ signature, “We are all marching toward the same goals: safer workplaces, fair pay, dignity on the job, secure retirement and opportunities to make a better life. I believe in the power of collective action.”

A Labor Department spokeswoman did not respond to The Daily Caller’s request for comment on whether Solis is encouraging federal workers to use their positions to promote a political agenda. Even so, an official sign describing the posters’ purpose indicates that may be the case.

...Americans for Limited Government communications director Rick Manning led the Department of Labor’s public affairs department during the George W. Bush administration. He told TheDC that Solis appears to be more interesting in politicking than actually enforcing laws... “This administration seems to be more interested in using public resources to promote extra-legal social change through propagandizing the federal workforce rather than simply enforcing the laws passed by Congress..."

If you're looking to confirm the president's affinity for race-baiting kooks, please note that Sharpton was also just invited to a White House breakfast.

Federal Appeals Court: Yo, Barry -- You Got 'Til Thursday to Explain Your Chavez-Like Speechifying

The envelope was addressed to a "Mr. Soetero", I hear.

A federal appeals court is striking back after President Obama cautioned the Supreme Court against overturning the health care overhaul and warned that such an act would be "unprecedented."

A three-judge panel for the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday ordered the Justice Department to explain by Thursday whether the administration believes judges have the power to strike down a federal law.

...One justice in particular chided the administration for what he said was being perceived as a "challenge" to judicial authority -- referring directly to Obama's latest comments about the Supreme Court's review of the health care case.

The testy exchange played out during a hearing over a separate ObamaCare challenge. It marked a new phase in the budding turf war between the executive and judicial branches.

"Does the Department of Justice recognize that federal courts have the authority in appropriate circumstances to strike federal statutes because of one or more constitutional infirmities?" Judge Jerry Smith asked at the hearing.
Justice Department attorney Dana Lydia Kaersvang answered "yes" to that question.

A source inside the courtroom, speaking to Fox News afterward, described the questioning by Smith as pointed. Smith also made clear during that exchange that he was "referring to statements by the president in the past few days to the effect ... that it is somehow inappropriate for what he termed unelected judges to strike acts of Congress. ... That has troubled a number of people who have read it as somehow a challenge to the federal courts or to their authority," Smith said. "And that's not a small matter."

Smith ordered a response from the department within 48 hours. The related letter from the court, obtained by Fox News, instructed the Justice Department to provide an explanation of "no less than three pages, single spaced" by noon on Thursday.

Ace summarizes:

Obama is currently inviting the courts to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act, passed by truly solid democratic majorities, and still popular law. He has instructed his lawyers to not defend the law against challenge (Congress, I believe, has petitioned to intervene to defend the law).

So no, he doesn't really believe the courts can't strike down laws.

He's just lying for political effect, as usual.

CHANGE.
HOPE.
PROGRESS.

Hilarious Upside-Down Hockey-Stick Graph o' the Day

And it couldn't happen to a more deserving industry:

The Newspaper Association of America reported that advertising revenue for print newspapers in the U.S. fell to $20.7 billion in 2011. Adjusted for inflation, that’s the lowest annual advertising revenue for newspapers since 1951, sixty years ago. It took 50 years to go from about $20 billion in inflation-adjusted annual newspaper ad revenue in 1950 to $63.5 billion in 2000, and then only 11 years to go from $63.5 billion back to about $20 billion in 2011. This could be one of the best examples ever of “Schumpeterian creative destruction” displayed in a single graph.

My question about newspapers is a simple one: why do I need printouts of Democrat National Committee press releases when I can read them online?

Photo Quiz: Which Administration Official Did the Beautiful Russian Spy 'Honey-Trap'?

The Daily Mail:

Sexpot spy Anna Chapman came close to snaring a member of President Obama's inner circle in a honey trap, a top U.S. intelligence official has claimed... In a documentary broadcast last night, FBI counter-intelligence chief Frank Figliuzzi claimed the glamorous Russian agent got close enough to 'disturb' U.S. spy catchers.

He said the fear that Miss Chapman was close to seducing a sitting member of the Obama administration spurred agents to swoop on the 10-strong spy ring of which she was a part... Mr Figliuzzi told the Channel 4 documentary the auburn-haired spy got 'closer and closer to higher and higher ranking leadership... she got close enough to disturb us.

Which of the following administration officials did Chapman entrap?

Obama Fires Salvo at "Unelected" Supreme Court

Dan from NY:

This has echoes of Obama’s infamous lecture to The Justices during his State of The Union address in 2010. Clearly, he has a runaway ego. If Americans hand this arrogant man the reins for four more years it will be an historic and regrettable mistake. Obama’s megalomaniacal temperament almost guarantees that if reelected he will leverage his lame duck status and try to elbow aside the separation of powers and other safeguards in our Constitution that limit the ability of one branch of government to usurp the power of another. In fact, by interjecting himself into a matter already before the Court, he has just given us a sneak preview of the ugly things to come.

Yahoo News, 4/2/2012

Obama issues stern language on Supreme Court health care decision

President Obama on Monday issued stern language to the Supreme Court of the United States regarding his health care law, expressing confidence "Obamacare" will not be overturned by the nation's highest court.

"I'm confident this will be upheld because it should be upheld," the president said Monday afternoon at a White House press conference that included ‪Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderon, who are attending the North American Leaders' Summit. The president said overturning the law would be "an unprecedented and extraordinary step" and compared the court's rejection of the law to "judicial activism."

...The president stressed that the judges are "unelected" and noted that the law was passed by a democratically elected Congress.

Monday's comments were the first public warning the president has issued since the justices heard oral arguments last week on the constitutionality of the law, which includes an individual health care mandate.

It remains to be seen how the justices will rule on the matter. On Friday, the court began deliberations, which could last through June. The ruling could significantly impact the president's re-election strategy.

Did you catch that?

Obama "issued stern language"?

He voiced a "public warning" to the Supreme Court?

I don't care what political party you belong to.

This kind of behavior isn't American.

It's something worthy of Hugo Chavez in Venezuela or Fidel Castro in Cuba. This man must be removed from office in November. Otherwise, this country is done.

Seriously: Chevy Volts Recalled Again, This Time Because XM Radios Won't Pick Up... Fox News [Update: Nope, Leftover April Fool's Day Joke]

Update: Well, I got pwnt. This was a leftover April Fool's Day, according to Seton.

I s*** you not. I'm sure it's just a coincidence. This makes, what, recall #3 (after the exploding batteries and melting power cords)?

The North American based automaker Chevrolet has recently announced a recall for the popular Volt model, because of a problem with its XM satellite radio.

After the Chevrolet Volt has been under an NHTSA investigation, not too long ago, because of a potential fire risk on its battery pack, influencing its sales targets, the “green” model is once again placed into the spotlights, in another negative light, because of a problem with its XM satellite radio. Even if this might seem like a minor issue on the Volt, the fact that it was investigated by the NHTSA because of a fire risk, adding the problem with the satellite radio can only decrease the model’s sales.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, owners of the Chevrolet Volt with XM satellite radio installed can’t pick up the Fox station and after some complaints were received by GM from loyal Fox News audience, the recall became a possibility. We won’t say anything about “life threating situations, injuries or crashes” related to this incident because this is not the case. Owners of the Chevy Volt, with the XM satellite radio installed, will be notified soon by the car manufacturer, and they will have to take a trip back to the dealers where the problem will be solved free of charge.

Oh, and more good news from Government Motors: the Volt manufacturing shutdown just got extended another week.

JP Morgan: Obamanomics Has Vaporized 15 Million Jobs

Is this chart racist?

A much-needed reminder that despite the recent upturn in the jobs market, there is still an awfully big employment hole to fill, as JPMorgan economist James Glassman points out:

A useful way to assess the challenge for the US economy is to ask, How many jobs would need to be created to recover the ground lost in this last recession. Focusing only on official unemployment, currently 12,806,000 million are classified as officially unemployed. In a normal, fully-employed economy, the unemployment rate would be expected to be 4.5 to 5.0 percent. In that case, the natural number of unemployed people would be 7 to 8 million, respectively. So, for the unemployment rate to fall from 8.3 percent to 4.5 to 5.0 percent, the economy would need employ 6 million to 5 million people, respectively, of those who currently are unemployed.

What about the larger picture that includes the hidden unemployed? How many jobs are needed to restore the ratio of employed people to the total population back to where it was in 2007, prior to the economic downturn. Under normal circumstances, there would be 153,000,000 jobs, including parttime jobs that people hold voluntarily. Currently, however, the number of full-time jobs and those who are holding part-time jobs voluntarily stand at 138,189,000.

In other words, to restore the job market to the state it was in back in 2007, before the recession, would require the creation of 14.8 million jobs in today’s terms, a daunting task to say the least.

I'm trying to determine whether the apropos "Food Stamp President" or the simple yet elegant "SCOAMF" is the better tagline.

I'm leaning towards the latter.

Which is why even the liberal Washington Post published an article declaring Obama's rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline "an act of insanity."

Sad, ain't it?

Self-professed Constitutional scholar doesn't know Supreme Court has struck down laws like Obamacare only 1,315 times before

If find it curious that a self-professed Constitutional scholar doesn't know that the Supreme Court has struck down more than 1,300 laws since the founding of the Republic

President Obama, employing his strongest language to date on the Supreme Court review of the federal health care overhaul, cautioned the court Monday against overturning the law -- while repeatedly saying he's "confident" it will be upheld.

The president spoke at length about the case at a joint press conference with the leaders of Mexico and Canada. The president, adopting what he described as the language of conservatives who fret about judicial activism, questioned how an "unelected group of people" could overturn a law approved by Congress.

"I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress," Obama said.

That's quite a sequence of lies by the President, all packed into a single, steaming sentence of manure:

• A "strong majority" of Congress? The bill was passed using a budget reconciliation maneuver that allowed it to bypass a Senate filibuster with just 51 votes.

• A "democratically elected" Congress? Actually, the 111th Congress had roughly a half-dozen appointed Senators and one turncoat (Arlen Specter), elected as a Republican but who switched to the Democrat Party.

• Unprecedented step of overturning a law? Oh, gee, Mr. Constitutional Scholar, as of 2002, the Supreme Court had only struck 1,315 laws down as unconstitutional, the first in 1803.

Does the arrogance of this President know no bounds?

For you drones and irregular Americans following along, that's a rhetorical question.

At last: Obama's college transcripts located

It would appear that Ace of Spades just landed the scoop of the century.

I'm pretty sure Snopes verified this as 100% genuine.

Change

Esquire calls the policies of deficit spending and wealth redistribution a "War Against Youth."

Youth should be the only issue of the 2012 election, because all the subsidiary issues — inequality, the rising class system in America, the specter of decline, mass unemployment, the growing debt — are all fundamentally about the war against young Americans. But the choice young Americans face is between a party that claims to represent their interests but fails to and a party that explicitly opposes their interests and actively works to disenfranchise them...

...By bus and train and car pool, they will follow the gerontocracy to Tampa and Charlotte, the cities with the utter misfortune of hosting the presidential nominating conventions. Then we'll see if the people inside the convention centers can find the youth anything better to do.

We'll see then how the flowers of rage, planted and nurtured so carelessly for three decades, have sprung up and who will harvest them.

Which is why it is our job to teach America's young that the only antidote to the suicidal policies of Statism is Constitutional Conservatism.

It is our responsibility to return America to a lawful, civil society that recognizes the sovereignty of the individual and forces government to live within its means, like each of us must do in our own lives.

Good News: EPA's New 'Human-Friendly' Pesticides Responsible for the Great Bee Die-Off

Gee, and I had such high hopes that the environmental kooks would work out swimmingly as central planners.

...beekeepers from Minnesota and across the country this month asked the federal government for a temporary ban on one the most widely used pesticides until its effect on bees is clear. They fear it is contributing to a worldwide die-off and the inexplicable phenomenon known as "colony collapse disorder" that is devastating honeybee hives.

"We are asking the EPA to do its job," said Jeff Anderson, a commercial beekeeper from Eagle Bend, Minn. "Give us products that are safe."

The beekeepers and several environmental groups argue in an emergency petition filed with the EPA that the agency failed to require some legally mandated field testing before the pesticide was approved in 2003. New research, including two studies published last week in the journal Science, raises serious questions about its effect on pollinators of all kinds, they maintain.

The beekeepers and others say they filed the emergency petition because they fear that the EPA's review process will deliver a verdict too late for the nation's honeybees and the farmers who rely on them.

"Seventy percent of crops -- apples, oranges, zucchini, melons, strawberries -- they all need pollinators," said Vera Krischik, an associate professor of entomology at the University of Minnesota who studies the pesticides and bees. "It's a huge issue." ... Then there are the unknown numbers of bumblebees, wasps, butterflies and other wild pollinating insects that fill the same role across the natural world.

"We are headed in a very dangerous direction," Ellis said... ...The pesticides beekeepers are fighting now are different than those of the past, Anderson said. Those were applied at predictable times, making it easy to keep bees out of harm's way.

The pesticides most widely used now are among a class of nicotine-based chemicals called neonicotinoids that are designed to become an intrinsic part of the plant. They were developed in large part because they are much less toxic to humans and other mammals than previous pesticides. But in high doses, they are a neurotoxin to insects.

Curious how legacy media never reports stories like this one, which illustrate the endemic failures of a massive, centralized, authoritarian government and its unconstitutional central planning activities.

The EPA is responsible for the needless deaths of tens of millions of human beings in the Third World through its unconscionable ban of DDT.

Now, the unintended consequences of its idiocy is helping wipe out insect populations and endangering the entire food supply.

Remember these deadly failures when malevolent Statists like Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama and Chuck Schumer claim that Republicans want dirty water and dirty air. True Republicans want Constitutional government, nothing more and nothing less.

BlackBerry Maker RIM Announces New Device That People Will Actually Buy

Eh, it is April Fool's Day, after all.

...RIM said sales of BlackBerrys fell sharply in the latest quarter, leading to the company's first revenue decline in seven years. Its subscriber growth rate from the previous quarter also hit an all-time low of 3%. And two of RIM's top officers stepped down, leaving RIM's executive bench as shallow as it has ever been.

Meanwhile, morale has flagged amid the unrest, according to executives inside and outside the company.

At a dinner meeting in February between RIM's chief technology officer, David Yach, one of the executives who left Thursday, and chief information officers from companies and government agencies, including the Department of Defense, the mood from the RIM side was somber, according to a person who attended the dinner.

...The company's market capitalization hovers over $7 billion, a big bite for any buyer to swallow. Some bankers said there would be few buyers at that price tag for the whole company.

The exception would be giants like Microsoft Corp. andNokia Corp. The two explored a joint bid for RIM last year, according to people familiar with the situation, but those talks were preliminary and didn't lead to a bid.

Nokia has adopted Microsoft's operating system for its latest smart phones. Given that close partnership, the two could make a coordinated approach, if they decided to bid, according to people familiar with the situation.

If they jointly bid, the two companies would likely scrap RIM's mobile operating system and instead equip BlackBerrys with Microsoft's Windows software, with Microsoft taking over RIM's enterprise network, these people said.

RIM was on top of the world just three short years ago. Now they're gasping for air.

Most tragically, they failed to leverage their primary assets -- a secure, global network and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) software that manages corporate connectivity -- and instead tried to concentrate on the fast-moving device market. This task was made decidedly more difficult by the entrance of Google's Android operating system, which is distributed free to device makers and supports incredible diversity for handsets.

If RIM had concentrated on building highly secure client software packages for iPhones and Androids using its BES management console to control all of these devices, it would have a huge revenue stream that could have funded its device and OS operations. Instead, it failed to leverage BES on other devices, and thereby created a market for secure clients from companies like Good Technologies and MobileIron.

As it stands today, I don't see how RIM survives as a device maker.

Most Hilariousest Obama Campaign Request EVAH

Has any campaign ever beclowned itself like Obama 2012?

Obama camp demands Romney's tax returns from '80s

President Obama’s re-election campaign is calling on Mitt Romney to release his tax returns dating back to the 1980s, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Following a front-page Wall Street Journal article Thursday reporting that employees at Bain Capital, Romney’s former private-equity firm, were allowed to invest their retirement money in companies the firm acquired through a special share class, the Obama camp is seeking Romney’s old tax returns to see if they contain information about the investment arrangement... “Today’s report raises additional questions about Gov. Romney’s manipulation of the tax laws,” Ben LaBolt, an Obama spokesman, told The Journal, adding that Romney “may have engaged in questionable maneuvers to drive up the value of his IRA.”

Romney released his 2010 and preliminary 2011 tax returns earlier this year.

The Romney campaign pushed back Friday with their own request in an e-mail to National Journal: that Obama release the transcripts of all his meetings with world leaders... “The Obama campaign is playing politics, just as he’s doing in his conduct of foreign policy," Romney spokesperson Andrea Saul wrote. "Obama should release the notes and transcripts of all his meetings with world leaders so the American people can be satisfied that he’s not promising to sell out the country’s interests after the election is over.”

Hey, Romney advisers (note that I refrained from saying, "Hey, schmucks") -- the way you respond is like this:

...seven years after Barack Obama burst onto the national political scene, we still await the disclosure of his background records.

1. Occidental College records and transcripts -- Not released
2. Columbia University records and transcripts -- Not released
3. Columbia Thesis paper -- 'not available'
4. Harvard University records and transcripts -- Not released
5. Medical records -- Not released
6. Illinois State Senate schedule -- 'not available'
7. Illinois State Senate records -- 'not available'
8. Law practice client list -- Not released
9. Certified Copy of Original Birth certificate -- Not released
10. Harvard Law Review articles published -- None
11. University of Chicago scholarly articles -- None
12. Record of Baptism -- Not released or 'not available'

Of course, there are different standards for legacy media's preferred candidates. Remember how the media unearthed Rick Perry's college transcripts within 48 hours of the announcement of his candidacy?

The stupid, it burns.

Photo: This is the whack-job who thinks you need to be medically "treated" for questioning the U.N. climate scam

I realize you can't judge a book by its cover, but -- oh, my.

A whole slew of new “research” on conservatives’ and global warming skeptics’ “brains” has hit the academic circuit.

First off, environment and sociology Prof. Kari Norgaard’s [Ed: pictured at right] new study claims skeptics of man-made global warming fears should be “treated” for their skepticism. The study compares skepticism to man-made climate fears to the struggle against racism and slavery.

Prof. Norgaard’s concept of “treating” those who do not follow the current day’s political or social orthodoxy is, frighteningly, not new. A quick look at the 20th century totalitarian super states reveals many similar impulses.

It’s even more chilling that there is a whole new movement afoot by the promoters of man-made global warming theory to intimidate climate skeptics by using new brain “research.”

Other researchers have attempted to tie conservatism (which is identified with the highest number of climate skeptics) to “low brainpower.” ... Finally, still other climate activists have actually implied that we need to consider “human engineering” to combat global warming... NYU Prof. S. Matthew Liao of Center for Bioethics says his human engineering solution “involves the biomedical modification of humans to make them better at mitigating climate change'"

Sounds like the climate movement is pushing back against the numerous disclosures that have exposed "global warming" as nothing more than a money-making scam for NGOs and academics.

And it also would appear that they would like to use the same tactics the Nazis used to suppress opposition, all in pursuit of their totalitarian, anti-science vision.

Yet another reason to praise our country's founders for their wisdom vis a vis the Second Amendment.

QOTD: "...it sure would be intellectually honest if more people started framing their arguments in the terms, “I don’t like freedom on this issue and here is why…” You pretty much never see that. I mean, gun control is an anti-freedom stance, but they never argue it that way. I think maybe that’s why they don’t understand how unpopular their stance is.

The same thing with the health care debate. The mandate is an anti-freedom stance, but they try to say they’re for more freedom by ending worries about health care, which is BS. One thing is freedom and one thing isn’t; it’s not debatable. Putting a gun to someone’s head and saying, “You must buy health insurance!” isn’t freedom and no one should pretend it is. It’s okay to take an anti-freedom stance, you just should frame it terms of why you think your ideas are better than liberty. And that will probably also help you understand why so many people don’t like your views, as the left always seems to get caught off guard by that." --Frank J.
