EXPLAINED: What the president means when he says we must "grow from the middle out"

When the president first uttered the following, I hadn't really understood what he meant:

This country doesn’t just succeed when just a few are doing well at the top. It succeeds when the middle class gets bigger. Our economy doesn’t grow from the top down -- it grows from the middle out.

We don’t believe that anybody is entitled to success in this count

That is, until Biff Spackle sent me this montage.


Then it all became clear.

Oh, and as you could have predicted, "The First Food Czar’s School Lunchroom Mandate is Failing."
