Marathon Bombing Photos Show Suspicious Package

WHDH Channel 7's photos depict the site of the second explosion:

Photos sent to 7News by a viewer show the scene just before and right after the bombs went off on Boylston Street.

7News has provided these pictures to the FBI as they continue their investigation. They are looking at the pictures to see if it's possible it could be the second bomb.

In the first picture you can see a bag next to a mailbox and up against a barricade along the marathon route. In the second, which we have blurred because it is very graphic, there is no sign of the bag. The viewer who took the pictures says there may be an hour or more between when the first and second pictures were taken.

Man, that is awful looking at that package knowing what is going to happen.

Look at the light pole on the right. There is a man in black with a black nylon backpack walking away from the area going east towards the finish line.

The bag looks like it is heavy in weight. It a cross-carry bag meaning the strap crosses your chest. The back-pack area of the bag is bulging and looks to be sliding downward.

Wow, I zoomed in and Anonymous is correct...it does look like a guy with a black backpack. Wonder if it is important.

One question: how did that mail box survive?

Of course, that was the bomb under the box. YOu know postmen use such light plastic boxes. The fence is wrapped around the box because two parts of fences are locked to each other. Judging by the top of the pressure cooker it was made of steel. It didn’t break immediately, it gave crack in one side and started to spin. This is why people on the left side happened to be injured. On the picture they are on the ground, and people on the right side jumped to the doorway shocked. The pot with handle hit leg of the left fence, turned, and streamed to the opposite direction, toward the street pulling left fence like a jet engine and pushing linked right side against the mailbox. Then top of the pot blow away, hit the fence on the left side, broke the link and finally pushed it away aside. This is why left part of the fence far from the mailbox. Mail box is attached to the ground on four legs, it’s not easy to break as main force of the blast goes aside along the ground, not up. All that happened in about 0.1-0.2 seconds.
So, anyway make sense to look for person in a postman or any uniform who left the baf under the box in there. Pack of newspapers next to the mail box will never be suspicious.
