Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families, who were disarmed beginning in 1996 with draconian gun control laws that literally read "personal protection [shall] not be regarded as a genuine reason for owning, possessing or using a firearm."
I'll bet there are many people in Australia today who wish concealed carry permits were as plentiful as they are in the U.S.
...live TV footage showed people standing inside a café with their hands pressed against the windows. At least one of the attackers was caught on camera wearing a traditional Islamic cap.
